Starting this early so we can add books along the way.

We have had Best of 2011, Best of 2012 and Best of 2013 thread and we will need a best of 2014 thread for the group read (next year). I find it interesting to start a Best of... thread early and see what people thing have been great books (that have been released in 2014) through out the entire year.

All 2014 books will go into the poll next year.

Grasshopper Jungle by Andrew Smith - an amazing YA novel that deals with the important issue of sexuality.

Philippa | 100 comments I'll contribute a couple so far...

The Girl with All the Gifts an interesting and intelligent take on the genre

The Paying Guests an interesting look at the social and domestic situation in Britain post World War One, which becomes something else in the last half

Karen The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. A realistic (well, sort of) look at family and dysfunction that made me laugh and cry. It isn't for everyone but I enjoy Zevin's sense of humor and her grounded grasp of human nature.

Meric wrote: "Jack Dawkins, a sequel to Oliver Twist about the Artful Dodger. There are a few, but this one was done well."

That book wasn't released in 2014.

I think All That Is Solid Melts into Air by Darragh McKeon is the best book I've read for 2014

Reminder this will be February's poll, so all books released in 2014 will be voted on next month to pick the book.

Mish | 92 comments You by Caroline Kepnes - Really disturbing and best psychological thriller I've read in a while

and Frog Music by Emma Donoghue - Fascinating story. Based on real life people and an unsolved murder in the late 1800’s and interesting look at San Francisco during that time.
