Hi guys,

I'm a newish author with Dreamspinner. I've published several things since my first book was released in Nov 2012, including a trilogy, called North Star. The books included in that are Spark, Fusion, and Flare.

I live in the land of 10,000 lakes and love that the healing nature of water is just outside my door. I love a clean house, but can’t keep up with my daughter’s messes, and I prefers foods that are enriched with meat, noodles, and cheese. I also love people, enough to help them solve their interpersonal problems at my day job.

Real life is what I write about, particularly men in love that face both mundane and extraordinary circumstances. My characters have to find a way to make their relationships work, even when all hope is gone. Families are often at the heart of my stories, and I'm not afraid of digging into some deep psychological issues where characters are challenged with difficult choices.

I'm married to a wonderful man who makes sure I eat while I lose myself in these fictional mens' lives. I also have a remarkable daughter who helps me name my characters. When I'm not writing, I enjoy karaoke, hiking, and singing spontaneously about the mundane, just to make normal seem more interesting.

So, lets get to know each other. Feel free to ask me questions about myself, my books, my characters, my writing habits, or even about what it's like to live in a state that gets temps as low as -40ºC in the winter and 100ºF+ in the summer.

So, let's go!

Right now there are a few giveaways/contests going on for North Star books.

First, Mrs. Condit and Friends is giving away a copy of Flare. The deadline to enter is Feb 8th at 11pm CST. You can also read a review of Flare and an interview with Hugo, so click to comment and get entered.

Second, Prism Book Alliance has a contest ending February 6th. I shared an outtake I wrote of Hugo and Kevin in high school that will never make it in to any of my books. If you click and comment, you can have a chance to win either Spark, Fusion, Flare, or the YA adaptation of Spark, Private Display of Affection by Winter Sandberg.
