Sara W (sarawesq) | 2153 comments Please discuss When Christ and His Saints Slept here.

Anyone reading this thread should have already finished the book, so spoil away :)

Also, let us all know how you rated the book (4/5, etc)

Roberta | 10 comments really? I've only just started, but so far I love it. Penman makes me believe that she was in a corner, observing all of the people and the incidents she describes. Brings history to life for me!

Juliew. | 17 comments I had thought we were going to discuss by chapter.I didn't know we should be finished either.

Robin (ukamerican) | 188 comments You can discuss by chapter, sort of - the book is split into thirds for discussion:

Kelly (kellyhollenbeck) | 12 comments This is one of my all time favorite books. I have read it twice now and I plan on reading it a few more times in my lifetime. Sharon Kay Penmanis the best when it comes to books like this. The whole series is awesome and the Here Be Dragons series is just as good.

message 7: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Definitely an all time favorite for me also. I also have the whole series. Nothing is better or more in depth than this.

Juliew. | 17 comments I liked various parts of the book but the writing style just wasn't for me.It seemed overlong.Too much info on some characters not enough on others.Maybe I might try to read something else of hers later as I'm not sure I want to give up on this author just yet.

message 9: by Wendy (new)

Wendy I struggled with this book. I had not remembered this when I ordered the book but I have tried to read the book before and quit before finishing. Count me in the facts over fiction camp perhaps. Or is it that it reminds me too much of a romance novel? If you lean toward that, then I think this is well written. I think it is stylistic preference. Sorry to be a party -pooper. Glad to see that most everyone enjoyed this book. She is a good writer.

Jackballoon (platogleon) | 3 comments Interesting to learn how Eleanor of Aquitaine started!

Samantha (samanthajw) | 35 comments Finished this book over the weekend and I loved it as much as I did the first time. Nobody does history as completely and skillfully as SKP. My review, if anyone's interested: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show....

Tabitha Smith (cajuntab) | 2 comments I was really impressed with Penman's depiction and illustrations. The book fantastically integrated many characters without needing a map and reference. This was my first to read about Eleanor of Aquitaine. After alittle research I was impressed.
