Goodreads Author Pages

If you've written a book and have it listed here on Goodreads, the next step is to create a Goodreads author's page so your followers can connect with you. From this author's page you can post all of your books and link all of your social media pages in one place as well as your blog/website.

This gives your fans easy access to be able to follow you as well as watch for updates from you pertaining to your writing.

It's easy to do:
1. Go to your book's page.

2. Click on the author's name (that's you!).

3. If you do not already have an author's page, scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find "Is this you? Let us know. If not, help out and invite (insert your name) to Goodreads."

4. Click on the link in that sentence (Let us know) to create your very own author page.

5. If you already have an author's page but it's not updated, just click on the "edit" button to add or change your information to keep it up to date.

More information on Goodreads authors can be found here: https://www.goodreads.com/author/program

Goodreads Librarians

Goodreads librarians are available to help add or edit book information. Just a few of the things they are available for are:

- Adding/changing book information such as page numbers, publisher, date published, etc.

- Adding new books or new editions of existing books

- Adding new series or adding books to an existing series

- Adding book covers (Note: Per Goodreads rules we cannot change book covers on an existing book. We can, however, add a new edition of your book with the new cover.)

- Adding/changing book descriptions

If you have any questions about your book, send us a message. If we can't help, we can direct you to someone who can.

To choose which edition of your book shows up as default in a search:

1) Navigate to the book's page. Be sure you have selected the edition you wish to become the default (primary) edition.

2) Click "edit details" below the book's description.

3) On the right side of the page, click "Set this book as the primary edition for this work". It's about midway down the page.

Only Goodreads Authors can set the default edition at this time.

Hi Sheri,

I joined the author program 4 or 5 days ago but it hasn't given me editing rights to the author profile yet. Also, somehow there is an exact duplicate of my book (I just pressed the "back" button to edit the ISBN) so I need to delete the one without the stars. You're weak. You know that though. You tell yourself this all day long every day every waking moment. Forever. You always tell yourself this you are always constantly telling yourself you are weak. You are. You know why you're weak, the reason you are weak is because you're insane but not because you are insane are you weak the reason you are weak is because you choose not to show that you are crazy. You must embrace who you are to become what you are meant to be. Look at that I'm starting to look like a motivational speaker and trust me that's not what I'm trying to be. I'm not here for you. I'm here for my own selfish greed. You feed me and I feed you. This IS the relationship we will have nothing more. I expect nothing but you to feed me and you will expect nothing from me except to feed you. Never ask me for anything. I have no interest in what you have. The only thing I am interested in is the sole fact that you are reading the words that I write. You are a vessel and another click. Nothing more. Never forget this. You are mine. - See more at: http://www.averagerambling.com/blog#s...

Since the release of the first five books in my crime/mystery/black comedy series "The Haszard Narratives", I've been taken on by Koehler Books, and we're set to release the sixth book, "No Reason For Insanity" in February. It's a whodunit, and a serial killer with a difference. "Bizarre murders require an equally bizarre mind to solve them" is the buzz phrase I came up with.
Anyway, we're interested to hear what people think prior to release, and maybe obtain some endorsement quotes, so I can provide PDF ARCs for those interested. Due to the fact that it hasn't been released, it isn't yet on my page, so please get in touch. Many thanks to you all.

Ajax Minor hey, Ralph. i'm an author as well, of the fantasy, Sun Valley Moon Mountains. i did a free ebook promo in June and a paperback Goodreads Giveaway in July. looks as if i'm a bit late in replying, but a couple of suggestions for the next round.
you look, from your photo, as if you're a Boomer like me. so social media may be new to you. it was to me. anyway, sign up for FB and Twitter. develop a 'Friends' list and identify a few Twitter sites that are relevant. surprising how many categories are out there and there is surely one to fit your genre.
hit FB and Twitter all during the freebook promo and Giveaway. apologize for being a self indulgent shill as well!
the Giveaway sort of promotes itself; surprisingly while i gave 10 paper copies away, i 'sold' over 200 freebies. waiting for ratings and reviews is the frustrating part, but hang in there.

Mohammed Morsi (morsiman) | 2 comments Hello there,

I am Morsi and I worked almost two decades as a photojournalist before choosing to write the stories of the people whose lives I crossed mine.

I have published numerous photographic books in the past and lots of newspaper articles and features and this is the beginning of writing stories as fiction.

The first in three stories from Gaza is called What Is Past Is Dead and is about a young man who decides with his friends to help the Palestinians in Gaza by unconventional ways. There second story is out in December and the 3rd expected published in 2017.

I am probably in what is called a niche genre and I am also not very Internet literate so I am happy to meet readers/writers who can teach me a bit.

:)

I am not sure what else to write here?
You are welcome to add me as your friend too. I am not fast to reply as I am also the father of a 5 years old boy, Zaki, so clothes need to be washed and food needs to be cooked :)

I wish you a kind day.

Salaam
Morsi

J. Ellyne (j_ellyne) | 6 comments I don't know if this is the correct place to say this but the feature of this group where authors can connect with readers to give them a copy of their book to review worked for me. A member of this group gave me a nice review of the latest novel I published. It's always difficult to get those first few reviews on a new title when you're an indie author with no agent or publisher to promote you. I'm very grateful to this group for this feature. There are few other places on goodreads where authors can safely hang out without being despised for their "crass commercialism."

Tate Jackson (tatejackson) | 2 comments Juvenile by Stephanie Jackson Sarah McCarthy was in love and she was happy. She only wished that the love of her life would be more open with her about his past. Or she'd thought that was what she wanted, until the night that Mark's past slammed headlong into their future.
Mark Outlaw was an odd man. He was tall and handsome, and strangely, always alone. He never speaks to anyone, but for good reason. He has a secret to keep...he doesn't really exist.
Mark is actually just a creation...a guard of a man named Juvenile of Ammon. A human/demon/angel hybrid, Juvenile was a breed unto himself. He was born from a Divine prophecy that made him destined to become a weapon of Hell and destroy Heaven itself. It was a prophecy he'd sworn to himself never to fulfill.
Mark's job was to keep Juvenile locked inside a cell in their shared mind; to be the barrier between Juvenile and the outside world, and then Juvenile met Sarah. When Sarah was put in harm's way because of Juvenile's past, Mark knew that she would either be their salvation or their undoing.
Would Mark be able to hold onto to Juvenile or would he lose him, sending Juvenile spiraling uncontrollably into a future he had spent over two thousand years running from?

The reg. price of Juvenile is $2,99, but I have a CountDown deal starting on the 20th and running to 2/27 where the price drops drops to $1,99. Enjoy!!! Sarah McCarthy was in love and she was happy. She only wished that the love of her life would be more open with her about his past. Or she'd thought that was what she wanted, until the night that Mark's past slammed headlong into their future.

message 47: by Paula (new)

Paula You’ll never have me like you want me, a novel by Rose Romano

Contrary to popular belief, not every book written by an Italian-American living in Italy, about an Italian-American living in Italy, is about going back to Italy to look for heritage.

In this novel, written in the form of a journal kept by Emilia, Emilia goes to live in Italy because, as she says, she wants to live in the only country in the world where it’s normal to be Italian. Why does she want to live in the only country in the world where it’s normal to be Italian? There are a lot of Italians who don’t want to live in the only country in the world where it’s normal to be Italian.

Emilia wants to be wanted and that’s all she wants and all she’s ever wanted. No one has ever wanted her, not even her parents. I guess she figured that, as an Italian-American, she might have a better chance of fitting in in Italy. After all, Italian is what you are and American is just where you live. And fitting in means you’re wanted.

But Italy doesn’t want her, either. Most of the Italians she meets keep insisting that her name has to be Emily, and not Emilia. By not allowing her an Italian name, they’re telling her she must be American, which means she’s not Italian, which means they don’t want her.

Her social workers don’t want her, her psychiatrist doesn’t want her, potential bosses don’t want her, potential friends don’t want her, her roommates don’t want her, the volunteers who work with the crazy people don’t want her. It doesn’t take long before her boyfriend doesn’t want her.

But she gets what she wants in the end. If the ending of this novel really happened in real life, I’d say it was a horrible, terrible thing to happen. But, in this novel, I’d say it’s a happy ending.

Romano does a lot of little things in this book that I like, such as the names of the characters. Maybe Silvio was named after Berlusconi—that would suit his character. Or maybe I’m just getting carried away—maybe Romano just wanted a name that starts with the letter S. Mrs. Spigliato was her first social worker; her name means self-confident, self-possessed. (I’d call her arrogant and unfeeling.) One day, Emilia, tired of Mrs. Spigliato always calling her Emily, makes a mistake and calls her social worker Mrs. Spigoloso, which means angular (furniture), difficult (person). Emilia says, “Mrs. Spigliato, because her appearance was neither here nor there, was a little difficult to describe. I have no idea how to describe Mrs. Mordimi because she’s invisible.” Mrs. Mordimi is her second social worker and she really is invisible. She’s never seen—she’s never there when Emilia needs her, not in the way Emilia needs her, and her name means: bite me.

Another little thing is that most of the characters are described as animals. Roberto is a wolf. Mrs. Spigliato is a horse. Doctor Bologni is a penguin. Silvio, a former member of ′Ndrangheta, is an eagle. Sandra, the most unreal character, is a teddy bear.

The Virgin Mary, one of the characters, likes to wear t-shirts and sweatshirts with slogans on them. Of course, she’s got a t-shirt that says: You’ll never have me like you want me. My favorite is her sweatshirt that says: The truth doesn’t give a flying fuck whether you believe it or not.

Emilia, who doesn’t understand much about Italian politics, explains Italian politics to us. Usually when people explain something they don’t understand, they make it sound boring, but Emilia makes it sound as ridiculous as it really is.

Emilia gives some of the reasons that it’s cheaper and easier to live in the United States than it is to live in Italy. For example, if you quit going to the university before you get your degree, and then “. . . you decide, five years later, ten years later, twenty years later, that you want to go back to the university and finish up your degree—Surprise! In order to get back into the university, you have to pay all the taxes and fees you would have been paying if you had been attending the university for those five, ten or twenty years. In other words, you have to pay thousands of euros and you get absolutely nothing for it.” Public grammar schools and high schools don’t lend the students textbooks for free; the parents have to buy them. And Italy is the only country in the world where you have to pay, maybe even more than 200 euros, to close a bank account. (I found out somewhere else that closing a bank account can take as long as two weeks.)

The Italian-American flag, used in the cover illustration, and flown upside down as a distress signal, is an original design created by Rose Romano.

It’s an unusual little book and I think it needs to be read.

Claire Perkins (clairehperkins) | 34 comments Hello Everyone!
As a self-published author, I know how difficult, time consuming and expensive it can be to market your own work. Having been let down very badly by a national radio station for an interview that would have reached thousands of potential readers, I thought to hell with it! I'll do it myself and help my fellow self-published authors at the same time!

I'd like to introduce you to Book Talk Radio Club.....For just £65.00 (approximately US$80.00) a year, you will get THREE interviews on Book Talk Radio Club. A page dedicated to you, the author. Your readers can get to know you and you can talk about your books, the inspiration behind them and any promotions coming up.

Your author page will include:

Your photo & bio
Your book covers
A synopsis of each of your books
Your Book Talk Radio Club interviews
Links to your sales page for your books
Links to your website
Links to your social media pages
Links to any promotions i.e. Goodreads Giveaway etc

I will also feature your latest Book Talk Radio Club interview on the Home Page for a week with a cover of your book and a link to your Book Talk Radio Club author page.

Your Book Talk Radio Club author page will be found by your readers through alphabetical and genre search and an announcement on the Home page of this site as new authors are added.

How will your interview and page be marketed? Via Book Talk Radio Club's Twitter and Facebook pages, my own author pages, and Facebook Book related Groups (totalling in all over 10K members and growing), a newsletter for subscribers (you can view a copy of the first newsletter here) and Book Talk Radio Club's You Tube channel where each author will have their interview uploaded too. *NEW* Inclusion in Goodreads Book Talk Radio Club Group. All authors will have their interview uploaded here, their books on to the group's bookshelf as well as announcement of their upcoming interview in the group's 'Event' section.

You can pop over to www.booktalkradio.info for more info including the lovely reviews we've received so far from some of our authors.

Don't worry, I know how daunting it can be thinking about doing an interview, so if you'd like a copy of the questions I'm going to ask you, I'm more than happy to supply them. Just remember, I'm not here to test you, I'm here to help promote/market your books!

If you would like to become part of Book Talk Radio Club story pop over to www.booktalkradio.info and if you have any questions you can message me here on Goodreads, email me clairehperkins@gmail.com or you can arrange to have a chat via Skype.

Looking forward to hearing from you : )
