My favourite thing about this book is (view spoiler)

I totally agree! It felt so natural and right. I can't imagine the book being written in any other way. The book ended in such a way that it would be a great set up for a sequel! So much potential!

I Hope there is a sequel as I want to know what happens after the coffin

I read this book in two days. I couldn't stop reading it. Loved it. I've written a good thousand (or more) books or more in my (long) life and this is in the top five. Comparisons to other books aside, this book stands on its own in the way the basic ideas, plot and character are all treated.

I totally agree! Patrick Ness is gay himself, and he did a Q&A about LGBT in regards to literature, and this was mentioned. There need to be more gay characters in books without the books automatically being put on the Gay Lit shelf.

Definitely. Listen, I have read numerous m/m centered fiction in my life. But this? A YA novel that, at the forefront is a mysterious, post-apocalyptic like tale, with a male lead who is guy, a fact that is neither pushed aside or made into a big deal? That was just so refreshing to read.

Despite the fact there wasn't much of Gudmund in the book, the few flashbacks provided were effective, and for those who say they want a sequel, I am 100% for it. I need it!

Omg yes!! I didn't even really consider him being gay effected the book in any way. It didn't ruin the book like most authors would do. I didn't even consider this till now lol. this author will never disappoint me!

this book was soo unique, totally different to the hundreds of other books ive read but in a good way. it literally hooked me from the beginning with a thiusand questions racing through my head. when it ended i was just like bloody hell i NEED a sequel for this book.

Yes! Agree! That's what I thought too. Very glad it wasn't a big old "Hey look guys! The main character likes guys! Isn't that IMPRESSIVE that I put that in there? Isn't it? Huh? Huh?" He really did handle it well, very natural. Hope other authors start following Ness's example in that regard.

I completely agree! Glad that Regine and Tomasz were so accepting of him as well.
