This is a challenge to expand what subgenres that you read in YA books. You can either do small (1 book per subgenre), medium (two books per subgenre), and large (3 books per subgenre). You cannot knock one subgenre out by reading a trilogy, but if you read a trilogy for a subgenre, you will get an extra point (per each series you read). You get 1 point for small, two points for medium, and three points for large. So you can get a total of 1-3 POINTS, and a BONUS POINT for each TRILOGY you read (series with more than 3 books, do not count for the bonus point).

Fantasy (DO NOT INCLUDE FAIRY TALES)
Historical
Mystery/Crime
Realistic/Contemporary
Paranormal/Supernatural
Romance
Sci-Fi
Fairy-Tales (Retellings)
Action
Suspense/Horror
Chick-Lit
Gothic
Steampunk
Dystopian/Post-Apocalyptic

Bonus Book: TBD

I liked it way more than I thought I would. So much that I bought the second one from Amazon. It's called Tommy Nightmare. ;D The characters were interesting. I have to say that Ashleigh is a great villain. :D

However many you want, but if you are going for the prize, C. is asking that you participate in roughly half of the challenges. The challenges up now are not the only ones that will be posted though, so if you don't want to participate in many of the ones up now you don't have to.

The location one is going to be hard lol. I think that's why there are three options that you can choose.

message 22: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 1096 comments Yeah but I live in New Zealand and I don't know how to tell where a book is set in America.

And yeah I'm going for the prize.

That makes since, although I just count books that specifically mention the state lol, and I think that's why C. provided the state maps for those who didn't know where states were located.

Nice! As a mod, I won't be in the run for it, but I do love participating in challenges.

message 24: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 1096 comments Oh I still think I'm alright without competing. How do I join half of the challenges if 2 of them are February-specific?

message 25: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (chelc13) | 1467 comments Mod
If you've already read the Bonus book, you can count it... You don't have to read it again.

message 26: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 1096 comments No, but I mean am I in enough challenges now to compete for the prize?

message 27: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (chelc13) | 1467 comments Mod
Oh sorry, I was just letting you know about that

I'm like super tired right now so my mind was half out of it... I'll answer that tomorrow when I can think straight lol

Ok, now that I have slept and am not reading things that aren't there lol

Both of those challenges were changed to 6 month challenges. C. just hasn't gotten around to updating the first post in one of them, so it still says February.

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 1096 comments Ok thanks! :D So I'll join both of those haha.
