Hi friends(;
This is the place where we can start a discussion, debate, etc. Every Monday I will start a discussion about something I would consider important(; You may also start discussions any time you have one. Thankyou all for taking a moment(;

Elizabeth (fantasynerd365) Can I make a suggestion to make the discussion of the week a folder then just have the topics separated so people who join later can put their thoughts on the idea there easier?

I have a discussion topic....

Books. Talk about serious issues like early literacy and book-banning, talk about simple things like what your favorite book is...anything as long as it fits.

Is that too general?

Tina A quiet discussion board I suppose.

I knew of you as a child, I new of you as a teen-ager. But not til I was homeless and someone helped me and took me to an enormous church. In front seemed like a pool. Surely I would drown! I was so glad my friend was my companion. I stepped into the water went in and came out. Something was different. But yet I did not know what. You had plans for me. even when I stumbled and fell, you lifted me. When I ran away you were there when I was hungry, wet from the rain, cold and crying. You took me in your arms. But yrs later the hardships came , just as you said they would. But I was not prepared. I fell again and again. I doubted you. I cried for you. I cannot hear you. The Holy Spirit is not near. What am I to do My Lord? I pray but my depression overcomes the words. I fight back and forth in my heart and in my mind. I am weak but You are strong. Pick me up out of this mud pit My God. Or I will slip into the pit of hell.

Tyrone Wilson | 31 comments Hello All.

I'm kinda new at this, so please bear with me. I'm curious about something.

I wrote a book that has 38 people who list it "to read". Trust me, the fact that 38 people list it "to read" is not what stands out to me. The fact that of the 38, only 6 are men strikes me as odd. Perhaps it shouldn't though. At my church, if I were to guess the ratio of men to women, I would have to say the preponderance of regular attendees are women (perhaps 70% to 30%, give or take 5 points or so). I live in a middle-to-upper class, racially integrated neighborhood.

I'm not trying to start a war between the sexes, but does anybody find this normal? Does this reflect the approximate percentages at your church? If so, the next questions would be why do you suppose this is the case, and what are the implications?

God bless you all.

Luis Duperon (LuisAngelDuperon) | 6 comments Tyrone,

To your questions, no I don't find this normal. I've noticed the same phenomenon in our church where there is a disproportionate ratio of women to men. I'm not sure why this is the case although there could be a number of reasons. 1) It could be a reflection of our society where a large percentage of marriages end up in divorce. 2) It could be that churches are not engaging men in a way that appeals to them (us). 3) It could be Satan's overall strategy of "divide and conquer." If he can deliver a blow to families by separating them, the family unit will become weak and consequentially so will the church. In any case we must continue to pray that God will give us the wisdom to reach out to other men and help heal families so His Kingdom can continue to expand. I hope this helps.

God bless.
