Juanita (juanitav) | 744 comments This week I read The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation by Melissa Rivers. I'm slotting in "a book based on a true story" because ... well the Venn Diagram of prompts I have remaining and books I want to read is pretty sad.

I have 9 prompts remaining now.

How about you? How did your week go?

Oh and at Ray's recommendation I just finished Eleanor & Park which I absolutely loved and which fits none of my remaining prompts but, for a girl who graduated high school in 1987, was a nice trip down memory lane.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you!

Katherine (kiik) | 158 comments I'm quickly working my way through Outlander, but as it's almost 900 pages long, I'm not quite finished. Starting to feel a bit behind, as I'm hearing that many of you are close to completing (or have already completed) the challenge, but trying to stay motivated!

message 3: by Nicole (new)

Nicole This week was quite successful! Which is encouraging because I didn't have any books finished last week. I'm a little over half way through the prompts. I have 21 more prompts to complete. More than I ever thought I would read.

I finished How To Be A Good Wife by Emma Hartman (author under 30). And 25 Ways To Win With People by John C. Maxwell (book you own but haven't read). Currently reading Where'd You Go, Bernadette? by Maria Semple. I hope to finish this week. I really enjoy it!

message 4: by Ray (new)

Ray Jordan (rjordan1041) I'm currently reading " Star Trek Movie Memories " by William Shatner for my book I own but haven't read yet prompt. I plan to read "Live and Let Die" next for my antonyms prompt.

Megan (mghrt06) | 546 comments I read two books last week but they didn't fill any promts. I'm currently reading the book that came out the year you were born. Its a struggle to get through. I'm not sure if its the book itself or if I'm in a slump. I'm going to try really hard to get this one finished early on this week.

The next prompts I have planned to check off is the book set in the future and the Pulitzer prize book. I'm intimidated by the Pulitzer prize book because I selected All the Light We Cannot See. I'm thinking maybe I should listen to it on audiobook? Has any one listened to this one?

Even with my unsuccessful week I'm still at completing 29 tasks.

Have a good week.

message 6: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyesears) I finished The Book Thief this week, which I'm counting as a book that made you cry. I finished Testament of Friendship early last week as well and that is for a book with over 500 pages. (It has 508.) Those are the only two books I've finished in July, which is a bit sad.

The next book I plan to read is Outliers: The Story of Success for a book you were supposed to read in school, but didn't.

I'm also STILL working through The Complete Father Brown for a book that was turned into a TV show, but it has 718 pages so I'm not beating myself up too much.

I read a library copy of All the Light We Cannot See. Don't be intimidated by reading it. I absolutely loved it. I didn't find it a challenging read with the exception that I couldn't read it fast enough. I adored everything about this book to the point that I am likely going to buy my own copy.

Any way you can consume this book (reading or listening) will be well worth your time. *sigh* It's wonderful. Really.

message 8: by Sara (new)

Sara I finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah as my book published in 2015. I enjoyed it. It is a time period and topic I read frequently, and I have enjoyed most of the Kristin Hannah books I have read.

I'm almost finished with The Complete Princess Trilogy: Princess; Princess Sultana's Daughters; and Princess Sultana's Circle by Jean Sasson. I had the hardest time finding a trilogy that I hadn't read and that I was able to get interested in! I decided to restrict myself (if possible) to a true trilogy rather than the first three books in a series. That created some difficulties. I will finish the third book in the Princess Trilogy tonight, I expect.

After that I will have only 9 prompts left. I think the hardest one to complete will be the book that made me cry. I just don't cry easily with books (now movies are are different matter!). We will see if I can successfully find a book to make me cry!

message 9: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 734 comments I read Snow White Red-Handed this week. I'm putting it in the "antonyms in the title" prompt; it's not true antonyms but the idea of opposites is there. It was slow starting off but once it got going it was a fun light adventure story. I'm still working my way ever so slowly through The Complete Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Anderson, for my book that I started and never finished. I just have a hard time motivating myself to read it.

Kaci | 67 comments This past week I've read Clammed Up by Barbara Ross. I like it a lot. I'm a sucker for all things Maine and food related. I've also started my trilogy by reading City of Glass by Paul Auster which was very odd and in kind of regretting choosing this for my trilogy. I am having very poor taste in books lately

CherD (cheryde) Finished my book with a 1-word title, Pegasus by Danielle Steel Pegasus, by Danielle Steel. This was a beautifully written book, and I love Danielle Steel's books, not ashamed to admit it. After all my murder mysteries, thrillers, and historical fiction, a nice Danielle Steel book is a refreshing change.
