Michael (micky74007) yes
favorite poet: Walter McDonald

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Unfortunately I am a downright noob when it comes to poetry. A lot I've sampled has been a turn-off for me, but I've read a little that I did like and get into. I think there is poetry out there I'd dig, certain types that I don't know the names of.

Jessica (matthyjl) | 2 comments Yes, I have two favorites: William Blake and John Keats :)

James Joyce (james_patrick_joyce) | 16 comments I like Shakespeare's sonnets. Especially 130.

I always find The Ballad of Reading Gaol heartbreaking (Wilde wrote it while in the workhouse, for being gay. He never wrote anything of consequence, after)

I don't have a favourite poet, but I definitely love Matsuo Basho's poetry. He wrote real haiku, not the bastardized pablum that passes for it, online.

Check out The Narrow Road to the Deep North and Other Travel Sketches.

Melissa Ramirez (melissaramirez) | 241 comments I love poetry. I love that you can read it twice, or five times, or even twenty times and have it mean something different every time. I'm not extremely adept at poetry in an academic setting, because I'm one of those people who just likes to sit and contemplate poetry quietly - rather than discuss it with others.

Favorite poet: Emily Dickinson or any of the modernist poets (I love modern poetry)

Favorite poem: So many! Maya Angelou's "Rise", Williams's "Red Wheelbarrow", Ginsberg's "Howl", Bishop's "One Art"...there was also a poem I read last semester for a class, depicting snow on a quiet street at night-time. I can't remember the name of the poet, but it was a gorgeous poem.

Emma (e_loves_writing) | 133 comments I'm interested in poems and I think it is really wonderful how much English in school brings it in because than we can learn from older poems and learn to understand different styles of reading.
