Yes, I realize I have failed you, my beautiful TNBBCer's. I totally forgot to post nominations at the beginning of the month for August and September. Booooo! Shame on me!

Since it's way too late to get a book nominated for August, let's have August be a read-whatever-the-heck-you-want-month, and enjoy the unexpected breather.

Here we have opened the group read nominations for September and October. Thanks, and sorry!

Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

The categories for September and October are:

September- Banned Book / Books I read in High School theme

October - Horror / Halloween theme

If you nominate the book, and the book is chosen as a group read, you agree to lead the discussion! Don't worry, it's not hard, and we'll love you all the more for it!

Please do not nominate a book more than once. A book can only be voted on once, so multiple nominations within this thread are not counted.

Only ONE nomination per month per person.

Please be sure to post the title, author, and the month you are nominating it for.

Ideally, you can type it as follows -
August - Room - Emma Donoghue

If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.

Are you ready?

I'll accept nominations through Sunday the 9th. If we get tons of nominations, I may pull the plug on it a little early, so get them in as soon as you can!

Once I close nominations I will create the polls and let you know when it is time to vote!

Hit us with your best noms!

**Important note: At no time is it acceptable for an author to nominate one of his/her own books for the monthly group read. Likewise, it is not acceptable to "push" nominations or votes within this group. It also follows that "a nomination for a nomination" is not acceptable. If I suspect a push, or inappropriate actions have taken place within the group read nominations or votes, I reserve the right to deem those nominations or votes as ineligible.

Rian Nejar (riannejar) Papillon by Henri Charrière
September. Don't think this is a banned book; it does point to inhumane social systems that the protagonist escaped from, and outlived gloriously. A story so compelling that it became a very popular movie. A favorite; read it when in school about three decades ago!

We read "PERKS" in September 2013. You might want to choose something else. ;-)

Polls are closed and we have chosen our September and October group reads!

In September, we are going to be reading Fahrenheit 451 - and Ethan will be hosting the discussion!

In October, we will be reading The Night Strangers - and this discussion will be led by the Book Concierge!

I'll open the threads on the first of the month for each book.

Congrats to both Ethan and The Book Concierge for nominating such awesome books!

Pamela Mclaren | 293 comments Both sound like great reads. I'm sure that I have read Fahrenheit 451 but its been years! And the author of The Night Strangers is totally new to me! Will have to get a move on as another book group (at work) is reading Moo and I haven't started that one either!
