Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Ransom Ransom (Highlands' Lairds, #2) by Julie Garwood

In the dark days after the death of Richard the Lionhearted, lives and lands would fall into upheaval at the hands of a power-hungry British ruler and his violent minions. One victim of the scourge is innocent Gillian, who is a mere child when the cruel and ambitious Baron Alford slaughters her father and tears her family apart. Alford, determined to recover a jeweled box for the despotic King John, is furious when the precious treasure slips through his fingers—only to be lost for more than a decade.

Now a beautiful young woman, Gillian finds the key to resolving her past in handsome Scottish chieftains Ramsey Sinclair and Brodick Buchanan. With the cunning and courage of the daring Scotsmen, and with the friendship of a new ally, Bridgid KirkConnell, Gillian at last fights the unscrupulous Baron Alford, laying claim to her home, her family, and her father's reputation. But in the presence of the mighty warrors, Gillian and Bridgid discover that desire can be a weapon of conquest, betrayal can slay trust in a heartbeat, and the greatest risk of all is to surrender to unexpected love.

I haven't actually read this, so I hope I can actually join the read this month.

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Great! One of my faves, Danielle!

Jewel | 350 comments Can't wait to re read this one.

Barbara (bookwormrdh) Looking forward to reading this one.

Jewel | 350 comments I'm totally enjoying re reading this one

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Yay! Let me know when you all are ready to discuss!

Jewel | 350 comments I'm OK discussing now - this is my fourth time reading it-
And loving it

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) Okay, then let's start at the beginning. How did you like it? (Prologue) Did you like meeting the girls when they were children? Or was it unnecessary for the story? Did the scene make sense to you?

Got to go for a few hours but I'll be back!

Jewel | 350 comments I'm not sure - I didn't mind it the first time i read the book and I admit that I mostly skip it the other times I've read the book.

I think that the background story could easily be understood from when they talk about it later on.

Jewel | 350 comments Ive got a few discussion questions but they might be a spoiler to those who never read the book so I'll wait

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I think I skipped it a few times but I reread it the last time I did a reread and felt that it really did add to the story.

Jewel | 350 comments Here is a question:
What do you guys think about having Ramsy's stories in the same book as Brodick?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I would have liked to have seen them have their own book. I don't mind secondary romances but they were such an awesome couple.

Jewel | 350 comments Yeah, Bridget was such an interesting character she deserved her own book with a background and all

Jewel | 350 comments Also, I'm not sure, but it could be you, Pamela who posted a photo of "a" Brodick - if you remember can you please post it again- thanks

Jewel | 350 comments Thanks Pamela

Jewel | 350 comments What you guys think about Brodick going to England even though he promised Gillian to wait?

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I thought it was wrong to leave and not tell her but it all worked out in the end.

Jewel | 350 comments Im done

I think this is the fourth time reading it, still love it.

But is anyone else disappointed that we never got to read about them going to the Buchanan's home. It would have been hilarious!

Pamela(AllHoney) (pamelap) I've read this even more, Jewel. Lost count but its over 5 times for sure. Maybe closer to 10. Love this book!

The beginning was really intense and heart-wrenching. I feel for Gillian.
