March is creeping up on us, so let's pick our March Book Club pick. I know that some people had a hard time getting a copy of Esther the Queen, so maybe we can choose a book with wider library distribution this time. Please reply with your ideas, and then I'll build a survey in a few days for taking a vote. Thanks, All!

The Case of the Missing Marquess by Nancy Springer Enola Holmes Mystery

Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers by Mary Roach

Free fall by Traci Hunter Abramson

I have all these coming to me from the library. No hold wait time either.

Looks like just me and you! ha ha Any of these sound good to you?

message 4: by Julie (new)

Julie (juliecs351gmailcom) | 17 comments I vote for Free fall

message 5: by Maurine (new)

Maurine | 86 comments Sorry... No votes from me this time around... I just started an intense class of health care economics and I'm going to need every waking moment to stay on top of readings for this class! UGH! Lol

message 6: by Carri (new)

Carri | 44 comments I vote The Case of the Missing Marquess. I have wanted to read that one for a while.

message 7: by Linda (new)

Linda I'm new! I vote for Free Fall.

message 8: by Angela (new)

Angela I haven't hear of any of them but I'm in for which ever is picked.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Good luck with your health care economics class, Maurine. That sounds heavy duty.

I wanted to throw out another title: Pavilion of Women by Pearl Buck.

You people who can get Free Fall from the library, where do you live? Are we ready for poll?

I live in Idaho and got my copy of Freefall no problem. She is an LDS author, and not super well known. You can find her books at Deseret Book. Hopefully your libraries have it. I'm reading it regardless, but would love to discuss if it's picked.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

Idaho, eh? Is there a pretty good selection of LDS books at the public libraries? That's pretty cool. Here in Nebraska, zilch.

message 12: by Carri (new)

Carri | 44 comments I've read Pavilion of Women and I loved it. It would be a good one.

Rachel, I think a poll would be good. You up to learning how to create one?

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Amber. Cast your votes, Everyone! The poll is on the main group page. Just scroll down to the bottom. That woman relaxing in the cool recliner chair is you! (Never mind that it's 21 degrees as I'm typing this. Positive thinking!)

message 15: by Cami (new)

Cami I didn't see these posts until I got the group email this morning. I would like to also throw in there the book "March" by Geraldine Brooks. It's related to Little Women, and the title is perfect for the month of March! If a lot of votes have already gone up on the poll, however, I think The Case of the Missing Marquess would be fun. I'll go vote on the poll now (though I wasn't able to find it on my phone).

Polls don't seem to show up on phones. I wish goodreads would update their app.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll try to add "March" to the poll. Thanks for the idea, Cami!

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, Ladies. There are roughly 888 of you who haven't voted for our March read. You have until the end of the day on Friday (the 28th) to cast your vote in the poll. Whichever book is ahead then will be our March book. Let's set a deadline for having the book read this time. How about the 20th of March. As you read and think of questions, go ahead and post them, but we'll officially start our discussion of the book on March 20th.

message 19: by Cami (new)

Cami FYI, if people are getting their updates weekly, they may not even see this thread until this weekend.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm. Do you think we should wait until Sunday?

message 21: by Cami (new)

Cami Yes, though I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make. It doesn't seem like too many people vote. Also, I think it would be a good idea to choose books for the next 2 or 3 months, so people can know what to anticipate and request library books in time.

I think the weekend should be a good cut off.

I don't want to go too far ahead since what I get excited about reading often changes month by month. But choosing for April isn't a bad idea, within the next couple weeks.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, let's make Sunday our cutoff for the poll.

message 24: by Alisa (new)

Alisa | 7 comments I appear to be poll-challenged... I finally found the poll here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5... -- but it's not letting me vote! Do I need to go somewhere else to vote? Help, please!

message 25: by Carri (new)

Carri | 44 comments Alisa wrote: "I appear to be poll-challenged... I finally found the poll here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5... -- but it's not letting me vote! Do I need to go somewhere ..."

Alisa, I think it's because the poll closed yesterday. Someone needs to go in and change the close date. It's showing results now, not voting options.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

There's a new poll because, yes, the old one closed yesterday. Look for the poll with the shamrock image, and if you've already voted, please vote again. Sorry, All!

message 27: by Kate (new)

Kate (liahonagirl) I didn't even know there was a polls option! haha! I've voted! Right now, there are 3 books tied for 'first place' . . . so hopefully there will be other votes to break the tie! :)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

It's neck and neck. Will it be a photo finish?

message 29: by Carri (new)

Carri | 44 comments What if we have....I mean GET to read THREE books in March!?

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Interesting paradigm shift, Carri. Very, very interesting. I bet it's sunny today where you live. Am I right?

message 31: by Cami (new)

Cami The poll is here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/5...

It's not the first thing on the page (that one expired accidentally); it's the one a little farther down with the shamrock by it.

Actually, the sun is peaking out from behind the clouds. We got a much needed rain shower this morning, but the clouds are lifting, leaving the hope of a nice sunny afternoon. What's it like where you are?

message 33: by [deleted user] (new)

Cold, but occasionally the sun peeks out and says hello:)

What I'm loving about our poll, is seeing where the interests of our group are, and getting more ideas of what to read. Love it! Hopefully we have even more book suggestions in the future. We are almost ready to get April's book voting going, to give people time to acquire the book.
