In these pages, readers will gain valuable insights into trauma's diverse forms and the importance of understanding traumatization on an individual level. This award-winning book, recipient of the prestigious Best Book Award in the Psychology/Mental Health division, answers questions including 'Why don't some people heal as easily as others?' 'Why do some people experience trauma after 'seemingly insignificant' incidents?' and 'Why does overdiagnosis fail so many people?'
Readers can also find criteria for evaluating their own trauma, information on how to heal from a trauma disorder, and better ways for treating complex trauma. Traumatization and Its Aftermath guides readers through each element of the personalized struggle for survival and offers compassionate and patient explanations on how to shorten this struggle―and even prevent it.
Packed with detailed resources and accessible storytelling, this award-winning book is a must-read for clinicians and anyone looking to better understand the mind, body, and natural ability to heal.

The Million Stages of Grief
By: Michael Reed
2025
Thanks for sharing Michael. Grief is tough. Sorry for your loss. I read books on stages of grief. I read Joan Didion’s Year of Magical Thinking … and could not relate. For her, the “lean years” were when they moved into a house previously lived in by an actor who had won an Oscar and left it behind, and there were peacocks on the property vocalizing now and then. Yup, never going to have peacocks on the property. Will never make it to what she calls lean. Can’t relate to taking a year off to grieve as she did. Most of us have a mortgage, and have to flounder on best we can. We recently read Wild, where the author grieved via an in over her head multi-month hike.

📖 Wounded Angels: Healing in Real-Time

Nightbird
The book is both personal with clinical information integrated. It is helpful to those who have experienced coercive control, intimate partner violence, or those who seek to understand these issues.

I’m Sneha Singh, author of 'A LIFE TO CHEER' — a heartfelt collection of reflections on healing, hope, and inner strength. It’s not a step-by-step guide, but a space to pause, breathe, and feel seen in life’s quiet, in-between moments.
If you’ve ever been through change, loss, or self-discovery, I hope these words feel like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day. 💛
