Ally Bryan (allysbookshoparoundthecorner) | 260 comments I just saw this on BookTube and thought it looked fun!!

What books that you have read influenced you and your life the most? (you can include the reason if you want!)

My most influential books:
1. Harry Potter - this was the first books series I fell in love with and all the books really influenced me throughout my life and how I choose to approach things!
2. The Fault in Our Stars - this book and its message really stuck with me.
3. Divergent - I loved the line about how "becoming fearless isn't the point. It's learning to control your fear and how to be free from it" and I loved how it made me think about what I'm afraid of!
4. Just One Day by Gayle Forman - I identified so much with the main character of this book (creepily enough she had my name) and it has really stayed with me since I finished it!
5. Golden by Jessi Kirby - this book snuck up on me and I didn't realize how much it impacted me until I kept thinking about it and could not get it out of my head. It had amazing quotes like, "We are all more than the person we show to everyone else." It also made me fall back in love with poetry (like Robert Frost and Jean de La Fontaine)!

Bonus:
Daughters of the Moon series by Lynne Ewing - first book crush (Stanton)!! I read this in middle school and still think about it and the beginning of my book fangirling haha!

The Book Thief! It showed me that not all books about the Holocaust have to be so grave and tragic to get the point across.

Rita (anarittafp) Harry Potter definitely for me too! It made me start reading more and it also made me start writing and both those things are probably what I love to do most in the world and what makes me get through the dark times =)

message 6: by Shermaya (new)

Shermaya Cavanagh In no particular order:

1) The Perks of Being a Wallflower - This book just really stuck with me, it is one of those books that you forever think about and go back to
2) Thirteen Reasons Why - This book really made me think about how ones actions can affect and effect another's
3) The Fault in Our Stars - Unforgettable message
4) Forbidden - This book really makes you re-evaluate how you look at the world and how we as a society judge things we have no business in or understanding of
5) Looking For Alaska - This was the first John Green book I read and I fell in love with his writing straight away (he is one of my favourite authors) but it is also filled with so many wonderful messages and life lessons

:D

Allegiant not only did it make me cry my eyes out it taught me self sacrifice is important and sometimes being selfless and dauntless is the same thing.

Nikita The Hunger Games - it was the book that brought me back into the reading world.

Tiger's Curse - this series had me feeling so many emotions I didn't even know I had. I had never been so captivated by a story in all my life.

message 11: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (jabberwockyslayer) Ignite Me for sure. It completely changed how I look at people that I don't think highly of. Aaron Warner made me realize that there's more to a person than what they let others see.

And then there's The Program. That book had the most emotional impact on me. Ever. And i'm not even sure why...

message 12: by Tommy (new)

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 354 comments X-Men comics: I was three years old when my grandpa read me some and I fell in love with it. He then stopped reading them to me and said if I wanted more I had to read them myself. So, I learned to read.

Goosebumps: Made my transition from comics to prose painless. Plus you didn't get picked on for reading them. At age six or so, that's a pretty big plus.

Harry Potter: For making me go from thinking I could probably write if I tried to actually making an effort.

If not for these three series, it's fairly likely that I wouldn't have bothered reading any others. Not to mention pursuing writing books.

message 13: by Caru (new)

Caru Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan -they made me love reading!!
Take Me There by Carolee Dean - this book had the most emotional impact on me ever (probably because it has to do with my kinda-more-than-a-fear). it made me cry my eyes out.
