I'm only signing up for 5 books this time. LOL!

message 3: by Beverly (new)

Beverly I will sign up for 15 books. It may be a stretch goal again as a number of books that I want to read this month border on being door stoppers.

Anastasia Kinderman | 942 comments I think I'll do six again.

I have a habit of setting unrealistic (for me) goals so this time I'll go with two for the theme. My Name is Butterfly and The Twelve Tribes of Hattie.

message 8: by Rosalie (new)

Rosalie Turner | 71 comments You all put me to shame. With all I need to read for the other book clubs I'm in I'll just set my goal at two. Not sure which ones yet.

You can count your other bookclub reads in the March challenge

Oh, great! I want to try "My Name is Butterfly". I really liked the "Twelve Tribes of Hattie"

I'm reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie with Lulu for our Blind buddy Read. I'm glad to know you liked it. I think I will as well.

Mitzi Rochelle Huddleston (huddlm) Here I go again another challenge but I'm only going with four books (not sure which four yet). I'll try to submit my list this weekend.

Happy Reading!

LOL - Trying a new method - if I write it down maybe I will do a better job of sticking to it. :)
Usually I just decide what to read based on whims - I have already abandoned one as I was not feeling it.

Loverofbooks - Jae' ♒️♍️♑️ (loverofbooks-jae) I'm going to aim for 5!

message 17: by Londa (new)

Londa (londalocs) | 1526 comments Beverly, which one did you abandon? I am almost afraid to ask. LOL
--------------------------------------------------

5 is a good number!
Go for it Jae'

Londa -

LOL - No need to be afraid.

It was No Woman No Cry: My Life With Bob Marleyby Rita Marley

It was a BOM read for a group. I am not a fan of memoirs, especially of entertainers that I am aware of most of the info in the book. I was still able to participate in the discussion. :)

I substituted Everything I Never Told Youby Celeste Ng

Londa (londalocs) | 1526 comments Beverly,

Phew! I was just hoping that it wasn't one of the books on my to-read list, and luckily (for me) it isn't ;o)

Anastasia Kinderman | 942 comments How's everyone else coming with their challenges? I don't know why but I'm finding it easier to keep up this month.

I'm slacking. LOL!!! There are sooo many books I want to read. I'm currently reading Fannie Lou Hamer's biography "This Little Light of Mine"; I'm really enjoying it.

message 22: by Beverly (new)

Beverly Yes, I am also behind. This will be a telling week or should I say untelling week as I am a March Madness junkie so will be watching college basketball (men & women) for too many hours this week (and for the next couple of weeks). :)

I'm doing okay. I will make my goal this month, so that's good.

Lulu, you know you can add all of the books you have read this month. You only had to try and include 1 about a historical woman. I like the biographies you picked!

Beverly...who is your favorite team?

Oh! I guess I totally misread that. lol. I'll update my list.

Actually no fav team this year - just hoping for good games but usually root for the underdog or teams from NC, DC area and NY.

This year I think I am more looking forward to the women's tournament - especially if it will be a Conn - Notre Dame final

Londa (londalocs) | 1526 comments Beverly (19), Jae (15) and Anastasia (13) were our BIG readers this month. Congrats Ladies!

Lulu and kisha both made their goals! Excellent!!

What were everyone's favorite reads this month?
I enjoyed all 3 that I managed to finish! My Name is Butterfly was my favorite and I highly recommend the other two Animal Farm and Prayers for the Stolen

My fav read for March was Ruby: A Novel.
Followed closely by This Child's Gonna Live, Buried in the Bitter Waters: The Hidden History of Racial Cleansing in America, abd Dreams in a Time of War: A Childhood Memoir.

My least fav read for March was My Name is Butterfly.

I have to say I didn't really like ANY of the books I've finished or attempted to finish this month. Hopefully April's reads will get better for me. Though I will say that I enjoyed the group discussion for My Name is Butterfly. And although it wasn't a book that I loved, it was informative and the discussion gave me new insight.

I totally surprised myself, lol xD Animal Farm's on my TBR, I hope to get to it this year.

I read some really amazing books this month. I don't think I had any I didn't like, but there's a difference between good and amazing.

Faves:
The Time Traveler's Wife
The Emperor's Edge
Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs
Memoirs of a Starving Artist: An Itinerant Writer's Journey through an Unconventional Life
