Here's a recommendation game, you just give us a book that you think everyone should read at least once. Hopefully people, such as myself, will take you up on your good advice.

A truly stunning sci-fi book written in the form of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales". Simmons is one of the few Sci-Fi writers whose literary ability could cross any boundary (Iain Banks is another).

Kitty Genovese: A True Account of a Public Murder and Its Private Consequences

devoured this in a little over 24 hours, definitely a great book.
