A book must be seconded to be included in the poll. I'm hoping to get the poll up as soon as possible (nominations will close at the end of the 6th, so I'll put the poll up on the morning of the 7th) so get cracking.

Incidentally, although this is run along democratic lines I do reserve the right to become a dictator if lots of people join the group specifically to vote for a single book or genre. That's against the spirit (and the letter, now that I've checked) of the rules.

Rules are as follows:

1. Books must be available in ebook format or author willing to provide a digital copy to anyone who wants to participate.

2. Books must be available through at least one major retailer (Amazon, B&N, or Smashwords) or author is willing to provide a copy to anyone who wants to participate.

3. Self nominations are welcome, provided you have at least 10 non self promotion posts in the club.

4. All books must receive a second to be included in the poll.

In addition, I plan to tweet a bit about the book we read, using the hashtag #OBOTM (Other Book of the Month). If your book's selected do feel free to mention/promote this fact on your various social media thingummyjigs.

Obviously if we get just one nomination we won't bother with the poll and will crack on with that.

I'll second both of those.

So far, that's:
The Survivors Book I: Summer
Taking On The Dead

Thanks, Alexandrea.

Nominee list is now:
The Survivors Book I: Summer
Taking On The Dead
I, Zombie

Still a few days to nominate/second. If you've got a good zombie tale, let us know.

My daily traipse to work sees me battle zombie commuters pouring out of Victoria station; that's more a tale of woe. It often reminds me of the scene in Shaun Of The Dead where Shaun goes to the corner shop after the zombies have risen and doesn't notice anything different.

The poll is up. It'll run until the 10th, so hopefully the weekend will allow plenty of voting:

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1013 comments Shaun of the Dean is great. Army of Darkness is worth a laugh too.
The Zombie Handbook: How to Identify the Living Dead and Survive the Coming Zombie Apocalypse is my nomination - no idea what it's like:)

I think that's referred to in I, Zombie.

Judy Goodwin | 12 comments I was fortunate enough to meet the writer of Shaun of the dead along with his buddy who starred in the film. Brilliant stuff--and they were such fanboys of zombie movies in general.

Hmm... I've read the blurbs and none of them really grab me. Are any of them funny? (I can't take zombies seriously.)

Steph, only read I, Zombie. It's YA and has the odd lighter moment, but it's not a comedy. I don't think the others are comedy (you can always vote and not participate in the discussion).

Judy, I remember Frost and Pegg on Top Gear. Apparently at their first meeting they 'spoke' in the style of R2D2 and established nerd-contact :p

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1013 comments I can't comment on the one I nominated, as I haven't read it. Sorry.
Frost and Pegg are funny guys:)

Right... each got 1 vote.

I don't want to tie up 3 months (I wouldn't anyway, but I have a slightly different plan for next month). Hmm.

Edited extra bit: incidentally, even if you're guaranteed not to be able to read an OBOTM, please do vote. It'll help prevent ties like this occurring.

Ok, I didn't want to re-run the poll (we're a long way into March already), and having 3 books on the go at once (something else I considered) seemed excessive.

So, I used random.org (incidentally, if you play roleplaying games or anything else where you need random numbers generated the site's great for, er, doing that) and I, Zombie was picked.

So, this month, I, Zombie will be OBOTM. However, both the other books will be able to be nominated for the April OBOTM, for reasons that will become clear on the thread I'll post shortly.
