Angela Anyone interested in a third round??

I will post a new list of popular shelves closer to the end of this round.

message 2: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 174 comments Aargh! Personally I need a break from trying to hit strange and curiously-named shelves.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
I would be interested, but only if we are not doing the summer challenge thing.

message 4: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 247 comments I am interested! I would do the summer challenge as well.

message 5: by Angela (new)

Angela You could still use your challenge books for the pick a shelf. I am doing the summer challenge in The Next Best Book Club and use the same books. Although I do not deliberately try to find shelves, I just pray that I touch them :)

message 6: by Roseann (new)

Roseann | 66 comments I'm game!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
OK I'm game. I love challenges.

message 8: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 286 comments Not this time, I want to spend some time enjoying my reading and not rushing to finshing before the next update. I'll keep an eye on what everyone else is doing though.

message 9: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (JenJen1221) | 61 comments Sure...now that I'm back in town and not planning on another vacation, I can concentrate on books again.

message 10: by Luann (new)

Luann (azbookgal) | 1017 comments I think a third Shelf-a-Thon would be a bit much for me. But, like Sarah said, I'll keep an eye on what everyone else is doing.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 9032 comments Mod
well, how about if we take a bit of a break from Shelf-a-Thon. It is time consuming and I am trying to think up a new game anyway ;)

message 12: by Angela (new)

Angela That is too bad... this is one of the things I really liked about this group.

Well, I hope you'd like the new game too! Or... you could challenge yourself for the 3rd time ;) ?

We would definitely play Shelf-a-thon again one day, maybe next year :)

message 14: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments I'm up for a new challenge myself, I need to take a break from the shelf-a-thon, but I would definitely participate again some time in the future. Maybe in the fall or winter.

message 15: by Lauren (last edited Jul 14, 2009 10:03AM) (new)

Lauren | 247 comments I enjoy the shelf a thon alot as well. It is one of my favourite parts of the group! I would be up for a new challenge as well though, hopefully shelf-a-thon may make a comeback at a later date.

I think I might keep track on my own if there is no round 3. I am liking the more laid back approach I have been taking for round 2!

message 16: by Angela (new)

Angela Hi Karen- If you do not mind, I am going to post this in The Next Best Book Club as a challenge... since this is orginally your idea, I would like to get your permission first.
Looking forward to your new challenge!

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) | 2895 comments Mod
Lauren - strangely (or not so strange) I was thinking of doing the same thing. Just for my own info. Are you planning to use the round 2 spreadsheet, or were you going to update it?

message 18: by Lauren (last edited Jul 14, 2009 01:34PM) (new)

Lauren | 247 comments Lyn - I was going to update it towards the end of the month and use that as my gude. It will stay mostly the same but I like to see the new shelves that pop up and some of the ones that fall off the list.

message 19: by Angela (new)

Angela If I am able to post this on another group, we may have other interest there, so hopefully Karen will give me her blessing.

Sarah (Mood Reader) (bookworm1887) So does this group have a summer challenge?

message 21: by Angela (new)

Angela Karen is going to be coming up with another challenge... not sure when or what it will be.

message 22: by Angela (new)

Angela I just finished getting all of the new shelves together for the next round (which took forever, cheking and double checking)... I know some have expressed doing it alone (or maybe in another group)... Some of the shelves have changed, but of course since we are working with popular shelves most have stayed the same. I did change about forty, so forty were taken away and forty new ones were added.

Angela and yes...nancy-pearl-s-book-lust is still on there! Why oh why :)

message 24: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments That's hilarious, I can't believe she's still up there :o)

message 25: by Angela (new)

Angela I was so hopeful!! I have never hit that shelf...at least the 'a' shelf is gone!

message 26: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments very true, good riddance!
I see "-" is still around, that shelf makes no sense to me what so ever :op

Angela, I don't mind at all... though maybe you ought to ask Lori (moderator of TNBBC) as well? They already have challenges (Official 'Seasonal' Challenge) which have huge followings :)

message 29: by Angela (new)

Angela Thanks Karen!!! I just sent her a message. I just personally think this is one of those challeges that you can do with other challenges. I am doing the Seasonal Challenge and I also participate in this one. Because the seasonal challenge has you a wide range of books, a person can usually hit a lot of shelves.

message 30: by Angela (new)

Angela I have Lori's permission to post it on The Next Best Book Club. I know a lot of you are already members of both groups, so feel free to play along there with me and others.

Thanks again Karen! (you created a monster :) I love this challenge!

Angela For those of you who do not know, Nancy Pearl is an author of books that she recommends. I just found this out and thought I would share this little tidbit.
Here are her books:

message 32: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 247 comments Natasha - That's the approach I have taken to Round 2. By the end of Round 1 reading was beginning to feel like a chore and that is when I drew the line and took a step back.
