The End (Up to page 408)

The ending... Was cheesy. When Heather pushed the accelerator, I expected an explosion. That would have given a deeper perspective to the book

I agree, it starts so fast and exciting and then it's so tidy at the end. It's not how Oliver has done things before

The cheesy ending did bother me, but only because it has left me completely unsatisfied and in want of more information. I want to find out what happened to Danya - did she get married? Did she ever walk again? And if Heather's mother went to prison or ever left them alone!
I felt introducing the character of Luke so close to the end in a different way was a nice surprise, but I can't help feeling it was a little random. It needed just a bit more explanation about his supposed guilt and how it had affected his life.
I loved the way this novel was written, where we jumped between important days and were just told about the less interesting ones. It kept the plot fast and exciting.
Overall, I loved this book but I don't think it was as good as her other novels.

Over all it was an exciting and enjoyable read 4 1/2 stars.

At first I wasn't completely sure, but oh my... What a ride! It seriously had me gripped all the way and the overall feel was awesome, I personally loved the ending too. I shipped Bishop and Heather the whole way, so I am extremely glad they ended up together!

Having said that, Heather petting the scared tiger at the joust has to be my favorite scene of the whole book. I'm a sucker for animals. :)

I thought Bishop confirms it at some point? Or did I just assume he would.

True, they can't have been organizing every year

They say around the beginning that the judges pick the new judges every year.

Thankyou! I thought at the start that Dodge and Heather would end up together because normally main characters do, I'm glad they didn't!

I still feel like I have SO many questions unanswered though!

I liked how the tigers were used as a plot device. That just connected the book a bit more. I especially loved how Heather put her hand on the tiger's head towards the end.
I didn't really like the ending because it was kinda cheesy and the characters seemed to have changed a lot and I want to know more about what happened.
Overall, I still think it was a good book.
I am not completely satisfied, however, because I still have unanswered questions!
1. Is Vivian the second judge or if not who?
2. I kinda want to know more about Heather and Bishop because they tried getting together and it didn't work the first time?
3. Is Krista in jail or not?
4. WHAT HAPPENED TO DAYNA I WANT TO KNOW.

I also did a review of Panic on my youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwAyQU...

The last quarter of the book had my heart racing more often than not, like when Heather had to play Russian roulette, when Lily told Heather the tigers were gone, and of course, during the joust.
I loved when Heather placed her hand on the tiger's head and knew she had won. Definitely one of the best moments of the book!
The ending wasn't my favorite, but I liked it. Heather enrolling in the veterinary services program made me smile. There were some unanswered questions in the end, as others have pointed out, but I'm okay with not having answers. I like the way things wrapped up, and overall I really enjoyed this book! Lauren Oliver continues to be one of my favorite authors. :)

I was really happy with how this book ended. I am so glad Heather won, and glad she was safe. I had a nervous feeling that she would be killed off in that car explosion..... sidenote, how funny this group is called BOOKSPLOSION now... anyway, I was thankful she survived, and so happy she and Bishop ended up together.
I've never read any of Lauren Oliver's other books, but I definitely want to now. Her writing is amazing. She guides the reader to the ending by allowing him/her to figure out the story, but it still made me want to keep reading even when I though I had the whole thing figured out. Just an excellent reading experience!

I just really loved that quote and Anne is easily my favourite character in the book aside from Bishop. Now back to reading!

I never really grew attached to any of the characters, unfortunately, and believe it or not that hasn't happened to me until now—I've only been a big reader like this for, like, a year and a half, maybe two years—so it was kind of strange for me. I was kind of waiting for the feels to kick in the whole time, like "WAIT. I like this character, I'd prefer they didn't die a horrible bloody death," but that kind of sort of never happened.
Aside from the character-development aspect of this book, I really did legitimately enjoy everything else. I thought the pacing was great, those damn crazy-ass Panic tests got my blood pumping, and I really, really adored the metaphor behind the whole story.
Like a lot of other people,I didn't think the super cheesy/happy/call-it-whatever-floats-your-boat ending was the greatest, and there are definitely a few unanswered questions. (Example: Dayna¿¿) I mean, I think one more chapter from Dodge would've been good.
But, hey. I've definitely seen some bad YA book endings, and although this one wasn't the best, it CERTAINLY wasn't the worst.
Anyway, all in all, a very entertaining, fun read. Four stars. Maybe three point five.
(Edit: A day or so later, after letting the book sink in, I've changed my rating to three stars.)
This was my first read-a-long and it was super fun. Can't wait for the liveshow!
:D

I expected something more to be made of Nat's OCD to be honest, I don't know if that aspect of her character was used enough. I also would liked to have known a bit more about how Dodge felt after the final challenge. But I wasn't disappointed by the ending, it felt satisfying enough to me.
I really enjoyed the book though, and it was nice to read something that was a stand alone, as opposed to all these trilogies that are flooding the market right now!

I didn't like the last chapter, this whole happy-lovy-dovy mood just I don't know, it wasn't the kind of ending I was hoping for. And also the joust and in general the ending all seemed rushed and somehow didn't seem "right". It's hard to explain.
Generally I found Panic simply boring? I expected something completely different, more dangerous and more electric, yet it seemed more like cold soup. Heather annoyed me most of the time and Dodge, well, I liked him but it also wasn't 'it', you know what I mean?
Most of the times the characters avoided real arguments, really dealing with the problem with each other and thus rather just went away and ignored the world for some time. I never really grew attached to them and so I didn't really care in the end who would win and if Heather would die or not. I was just really ready for the book to come to an end.
Panic was the first book I ever read by Lauren Oliver, even though I have delirium lying on my table right next to me, and somehow it makes me sceptical if I want to read hear other books out of fear that they will be equally cold soup.
Anyways, I enjoyed the read-a-long a lot, reading everybodys opinions and theories. I'm certainly going to watch the live show, curious as to what they will have to say about the book. :)

What did you think? Are you satisfied? Who was your favourite character? Do you feel they got a happy ending?
