Time Travel discussion

The PROOF of my newest book dealing with the Elastic Limit of Time, a compilation of a dozen Short Stories dedicated to this group’s late friend, moderator John Lindenberger, has finally arrived albeit after a much unforeseen delay in that pesky Time Continuum; my apologies, I’d hoped sooner.

Nevertheless, as a consequence three different in-depth Elastic Limit Epic Fables can soon be read & also enjoyed in any order, for Time itself is always fluid & this book, as are the other two, is merely a continuation, not a sequel as normally defined.

That is, every book in the series stands alone with none needing any back story, but in fact each all closely relate & when taken together they do indeed convey the larger, formally hidden tale of the elusive Elastic Limit of Time, and yet this interconnection becomes apparent only after every volume is completed, but in any order, as I've said.

Now my point is that lately, while explaining who John was (to a friend who reading the manuscript saw his dedication), I next broached a broader clarification of this Time Travel group & how its members interact & it struck me that as each Epic Fable in this tome is indeed a stand-alone story, all could easily also hold its own, unofficial dedication, especially as the Short Story Form (the structure this volume employs) sprang directly from Amy’s Never Ending Experiment, which gave me the impetus, something I've already mentioned to her off thread.

I should add, to explain the last statement, that all three Elastic Limit story lines are presented in a completely different fashion, for Time itself is always ever-changing.

So, respectfully:

To Amy, the only moderator who has read both earlier Epic Fables, I dedicate Chapter 1, in hope she’ll recognize the setting & intent, but also because, as I constantly traveled backward in my entries in the group’s story, I trust that she’ll now forgive me this directional inclination.

Paul L (the other Paul, that is), who hasn't read my stuff, gets Chapter 2, as it contains my explanation of how to avoid Paradox, something he’s into, plus he’s an academic egghead, but I bet he’s never sat a university conference such as the one depicted in this short story.

Brenda, who still pops up now & then, acquires Chapter 3, for it’s my take on how a Time Traveler would reveal himself & I think Lawrence ‘Titus’ Oats might relate, or at least I hope so.

Carl, who loves sequels, might like Chapter 4 because it explains not only who the ‘Old Man’ in the 2nd book is, but also what he did in the 1st book, although, again, the reader needn't know that to enjoy this Epic Fable & as I've said, the additional context throughout the book is a strictly a bonus.

Chapter 5 is assigned to the most diligent Lincoln, who graciously stepped into the breach when our group lost John, for this story shows how different views are a good thing & I should state here that he didn't care for my first book but he knows that’s OK with me, it’s not for everyone.

My friend Paul S (the real Paul, that is) & I, since meeting in this group have had a fantastic time with many diverse discussions covering all manner of agenda & as most of these exchanges are also hilariously funny, he gets Chapter 6, a new twist on someone he knows very well & for the record, he read the first draft of this tale some months back & I hope he’ll enjoy the tweaked version more.

Tej, who used to be Grasshopper but that’s another story, must be given Chapter 7 for two reasons; he loves history so very much & he’s English, although, in truth, he can’t help one of those.

Chapter 8 goes to Lance, my old Time Traveling buddy (who was most effusive in his positive comments after kindly reading both earlier Epic Fables) and given we share a mutual acquaintance, I informed him before the fact that I was writing this homage & as Paul (the Paul, not the other Paul) did with # 6, Lance read the first draft of this short story & I also hope he likes the finalized piece as much & I mean, in total; thanks, my friend, you are a true gentleman, always.

& Lance, please forgive me all the ampersands.

Sorry, inside joke; and per se, back to thread.

Piero, AKA Peter, receives Chapter 9 because of his strong love of language & his tenacity in composing it in a non-native one, which takes guts & by the by, I loved his stuff in the group’s story.

Randy, who must have Kindle as a middle name & never lags in his stiff determination, gets Chapter 10, because it shows that from simple things big things can come & often do, you go man.

Robert, a newcomer whom I don’t know well, is obviously passionate in his beliefs so he gets Chapter 11, which deals with the cycle of life & from his posts I think he’s into that & I hope he enjoys my view of Science vs. Religion contained in Paul’s (the real Paul’s) chapter, also.

And the best for last; no doubt E.B. must have Chapter 12, for she, as I do, loves dogs.

As for the real dedication, it may not be much but John was superlative & this is the least that I can do; a small way, perchance, to fix his place in Time.

And yet, in the final analysis it’s really this Time Travel group as a whole that gave me the idea of using such an untried form, for Amy’s exceptional experiment would not have come about without it, so everyone listed here must share, OK?

Keep in mind that it’s always the process for me, the plot being secondary (after all, I know the story, I've lived it) but before Amy’s experiment I had never written or even thought about writing a Short Story, so this entire ride artistically has been a most excellent one & again I thank the complete group for this new, very gratifying experience & I’m hoping all members will soon choose to read.

If so, be aware that these new Epic Fables can be experienced in several different ways:

Any chapter, as I've said, can be read independently of the others for all are stand alone, and

Reading the chapters forward in sequence tells the book’s full adventure, while

Also connecting all three Elastic Limit volumes, but furthermore

As Time is always ephemeral, this book can as easily be read backward, by starting with the last chapter & working your way up, for

It’s the same account from either direction, which is entirely the whole point of these collective narratives concerning the elusive Elastic Limit of Time.

Still, whatever you decide (if you choose to) be sure and glance at the dedication first.

It’s the best part.

WOW. Beautifully said, Howard. What a great Group we're in. I loved my sneak preview of Chapter Six about our friend, and I look forward to more. So what's the Title of the new book of short stories and when and where can we expect to order it? (Pesky Time Continuum notwithstanding)

'Tales of the Elastic Limit' & the cover is much the same as the other two, just a different tint.

So now there's the Blue one, the Green one & soon the Purple one, oh boy.

Proofing the PROOF tomorrow & any changes may take a day or two to adjust the file.

Self-publishing is one thing, the technology of this Timeframe is another.

Either way, Time's a ticking.
