Please sign me up. My shelf is: RRRC-mngc-2014

Oh, that's too bad!! I'm sorry.
I'm in! My meet-n-greet shelf is HERE.

Here's my Meet & Greet shelf. Course it certainly doesn't narrow down picks very well. :-p

1. First of: What does new books mean? This challenge ends at the end of May. For my shelf can I choose a book that will be released on April 8th, 2014?
2. Instruction nr. 1 & 2 I get, starting with nr 3 you lost me. Let's say I'm in a group with 14 other people. Those 14 people go to shelf I created and each one chooses 3 book and sends them to me via PM. What happens if all 14 choose the same 3 books?
I don't know if I got it right, but if I did, I don't understand the logistics.
Maybe I should start with something simpler, I fell like the biggest fool. If somebody can give me the for dummies version of the rules and instruction I will be forever grateful.

This challenge, while it may look a little scary, is really fun and quite easy and relaxed once you figure out how it works. It's also a great way to get to know some of the members, and discover new books and authors. I'll try to answer your questions, and I'm sure Jane(PS) will be along to add anything I might have missed! :D
1. New books just refers to any book not already on a person's designated shelf. We pick books from specific shelves that each member creates, and you must choose books from that shelf, nothing that isn't there. You're free to put any book on your shelf you choose, just so long as it will be released in time for you to read it before the challenge ends.
2. First of all, hopefully you will have around 30-50 books on your shelf, so the chances of everyone picking the same 3 books is very slim. However, as you receive your picks, you should try to decide as quickly as you can which book you want to read from each group, and then remove that book from the designated shelf so it won't be picked again. You will leave the other two books, since you haven't yet chosen them to be read so it's fine to have them picked for you again. If by chance you do end up getting a set of picks that has 3 books you've already chosen to read, you can request a new set of picks from that person. This does happen occasionally, but not often.
As I said above, this challenge can look a bit intimidating, but it's really not as scary as it looks. If you decide to join you're more than welcome, and you'll find people happy to help you through if you get confused. If you decide you'd rather start with something a little more straight-forward though, you can check out the March Monthly challenge HERE. It's simpler to follow, and since you can choose to read as few or as many of the categories as you'd like, there's no problem with joining in late. There will also be a new quarterly challenge posted within the next few days that will start on March 15. There are also longer challenges that can be found in the Yearly Challenges and Ongoing Challenges folders.
Whichever direction you decide to go I hope you'll enjoy the group, but be careful...challenges can be very addicting! :D

Thanks Karen ... now I understand the original post.
I'm in , but I do have one more question: What does this mean: "You cannot start picking for your team members until groups are posted?" How are the groups formed?
I will post the link to the shelf later.

I'm in , but I do have one more question: What does this mean: "You cannot start picking for your team members until groups are posted?" How are the groups formed? "
The groups are formed randomly by Jane...shortly (within a few hours) after the sign-ups close on March 19, she will post a list of who is in which group, and then we can all start browsing through our group members' shelves and send out recommendations. So I guess it's really impossible to pick for your team members before the groups are posted since you won't know who your team members are!

Pick me - meet in greet
***Reserved for my April picks***"
Tina - you'll be posting your April picks in the other thread :) ...It won't be open for you to reserve your spot until 19 March.

Ella - let me know if there is more you need clarified :)
Basically this challenge helps you pick your next books to read. How your team mates select their picks for you is entirely up to them (eg loved the book, liked the cover, thought the blurb sounded interesting) BUT it must be from your picking shelf and ONLY from your picking shelf :) ...Hence the no 'new' books.
At this stage, all I need from your is your picking shelf link. Once you have done that, your next move is put at least 30-40 books on that shelf that you want to read sometime soon (ie next 2 months).
Hope you decide to join us :)

:( *sniff* We'll miss you Sass *sniff*
!!But have a freakn' great holiday!!!

This is a challenge for the hordes of members who need help selecting their next book to read :) This is basically a group Pick-It-For-Me challenge WITHOUT the new book recommendations or categories. It is a two (2) month challenge.
This challenge is limited to members who are 18 years or older. This is the only age-restricted challenge in our group. There are many other challenges to choose from for those under 18.
Depending on the number of sign-ups for this challenge, groups will consist of 15-20 people.
INSTRUCTIONS: Step by step
1. Each participant must create a shelf and include on that shelf books that they would like to read in the coming two months. You will need to have at least 30-40 books on this shelf and you must post the link to that shelf when you sign up. If you participated in the last MnG, you may use the same shelf.
2. Sign up by Wednesday 19 March in the Sign Up/Discussion thread, posting the link to your shelf.
3. Once sign-up closes, each person will recommend to every other person in their group THREE (3) books selected from each member's nominated shelf. Recommendations will be sent via PM (private message) - NOT in the thread. If you have a private profile, you will need to 'friend' the other members in your group so that they can see your shelf.
4. Members choose ONE (1) book from each set of recommendations, removing that selected book from their nominated shelf (to reduce multiple selections of the same book) and placing it in another shelf to track this challenge. I would suggest that you create a second shelf for these selections for ease of tracking.
5. When picking starts I will open the participants thread for each member to post their list of selected books.
6. Once the challenge opens on 1 April, mark off each book on your challenge list as it is finished, noting the date completed. Update your completion rate at the top of your list throughout the challenge - eg "Completed: 1/15". If wished, post feedback on each book in the discussion thread :)
Do not repost your list in the Participants Thread - you will maintain your list in the original post.
To complete this challenge, you must read at least five (5) books from your chosen list. You may, of course, complete the full list.
SIGN UPS close 19 March at 6PM US EST. Please allow at least 3 hours for the groups to be posted. Sorry, no latecomers due to the massiveness of the picking!
PICKS for all group members must be completed by 28 March.
I have created two threads for this challenge:
* the Sign Up/Discussion thread. All sign-ups, chat and questions occurs in this thread.
* the Participants' Lists thread. This is only for the final book list for each participant. The participants' thread will be locked until we are ready to start picking.
You cannot start picking for your team members until groups are posted.
RULES/TIPS:
* You must not recommend new books.
* You ONLY select from the pickee's nominated shelf.
* You must nominate 3 books for each set of picks.
* Book nominations and selections do not need to be in any order.
* You can add/subtract books at any time during the sign-up and picking process. (If a book has already been recommended during the picks, this recommendation stands valid.)
* If you recommend a book from a series, please ensure that it is the next book for the reader in that series.
* You may put re-reads on your nominated picking shelf if desired. (This means the book may already be 'read' and rated - but if it is on that shelf, these books are fair game for the pickers.)
* You must have completed the picking for your group members by 28 March.
* You may use books planned for other challenges in this challenge and vice-verse unless otherwise specified in the alternate challenge(s).
* There is NO minimum page number requirement in this challenge.
* Books may be from any romance sub-genre, but we are a romance group so please keep your books on your nominated shelf to the romance or popular fiction genres.
* Remember - if your profile is private, you will need to 'friend' the other group members as they will not be able to access your nominated picking shelf otherwise.
* Feel free to 'friend' all the members of the group, as this will make picking much easier and faster :)
* A member can ask for re-picks from another member if they have already selected all three of the nominated books. For this reason, it is important that members move books off their nominated picking shelf as soon as they have made their selection.
* If a book from a series is recommended but it is not the next book for the reader in that series, please feel free to substitute the appropriate book for that recommendation.
* When providing feedback in the Discussion Thread, please ensure that key plot points are hidden behind the spoiler 'tag' - <'spoiler>blah plot point blah<'/spoiler> (ignoring the inverted commas which have been inserted to show the formula :)
Our members read a variety of romance sub-genres. You do not need to have read the book that you recommend, nor do you have to have knowledge of the sub-genre that may predominate any of the shelves. How you select books from the nominated shelves is entirely up to you.
How to create a new bookshelf
* Go to My Books
* Click on edit next to 'bookshelves' on top left
* Type in the name of your shelf and click 'Add'
* Customize the shelf as desired
A kindly reminder:
YOU ARE NOT SIGNED UP UNTIL YOU POST A LINK TO YOUR SHELF. :)
The RRRC Group moderators would like to thank the MM Romance Group for this challenge.
