I haven't bought anything from Ex Occidente in a few years, ever since I got burned once..."

The web site went away some time last year, I also had trouble getting the books I ordered. The publisher is in Romania and there appears to be some postal problems. But they kindly refunded my money. I have never seen them go on sale from the publisher.

There are about three of four now, with some print runs as low as 80 copies , they go quick. I think Ziesing distributes some of their books here in the US.

Hi Randolph, when I was on the site under each available book i get a "BUY NOW" button. I click the button and it takes me to a German version of Pay Pal.
I fill out the pop up screen the same way as the US pay pal screen. and that orders the book and pays for it and I get this to my e-mail:

Hello karl,

You sent a payment of 65.00 EUR to Zagava

(jonas@buecherwelten.com)

No fuss No muss. Do you have a Pay Pal account ?? perhaps that is your issue.

Interesting occurrence of fortunate events. I send you Kudos for a deed well done, yet I am curious why it worked for me ? But then I seem to like mysteries.

Karl By my count that's three publishers having problems with their web sites, Subterranean, Zagava, and Egaeus, what type of conspiracy is this ?

You left out the part where Jonas talks about the books he is selling on ABE.

Do you buy stuff just cus its a good deal, even if you don't like it ? If that's the case you would be more like a book seller than a aficionado.

The problem with library books is that some out there pick their noses or other orifices while reading and you inherit their DNA .. I lent a book to a neighbor who dropped it into the bathtub while reading there, It came back all water soaked and warped. It was a "Day of the Triffids" hardcover .. still can't do e-books or e-music just expendable e-mail, and we see how that has come about to haunt some people.

There has always been and will always be a collector's market for fine books .... others use a used bookstore for their reading pleasures. Sadly both have also always been a business taking what the market will bear ...

Benjamin Uminsky (benjaminu) | 368 comments Certainly to each his own... I think the publisher takes great enjoyment in trying many different shapes and sizes that are aesthetically experimental. I can't say I am in love with every look the publisher has attempted. Owning all 106 titles from this publisher, I can tell you that there are a whole host of ways to order these books on your shelf... which is kinda of fun because you can definitely create your own look. Physical presence of the books aside, the literary choices made by the publisher has been overwhelmingly successful. I can only think of a small handful of titles that I was not enthralled by...

Have folks read the latest release... Rhododendron Boy by Insole? Amazing!!

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 89 comments I have to agree about how fun these books are to arrange on a shelf! I can see how the tall slender ones could be a pain to read, but for me, no problem. At least with the one I've read so far (Abyssinia).

So far my favorite productions from this press are his longer Damian Murphys: Academy, Pheasant, and Minotaur. These are such gorgeous books and perhaps my favorites of my entire library. (Along with the recent Kiernan from Centipede)

Dan seems like a sweet guy and he has superb taste, but I have had some issues with him in the past year. It took me so long, at least six months probably longer, to get my Thomas Strømsholt. Finally I just settled for "anything by this author PLEASE" and at long last a book by that author arrived. I did appreciate the extra book he sent as an apology.

All that said, I swallowed my nervousness and paid for the new Ghahwagi. Couldn't resist. Fingers crossed that I actually get it!

There's got to be a body horror novel out there on this theme. Innocent protagonist borrows a library book, is infected by eldritch DNA, turns into a rugose cone etc.
