The madness continues

I'm about halfway through part two. I had to refer extensively to the List of Characters at first as I couldn't remember who half the people were! Everyone's behaving just as crazily as they did in book one (if not more so) and I'm beginning to see why everyone gets so impatient with poor Prince Myshkin.

I think they all need therapy.

Just finished book 2 - how do these people manage to function at such a continuously high level of emotion?
I really think Prince Myshkin should go back to Switzerland - all he seems to do is encourage the dishonest people of his acquaintance to behave worse and he irritates everyone else into behaving even more crazily than they normally do.
He means well and I'm very fond of him - but he just seems to cause chaos.

He doesn't seem to have a clue how to handle people does he? The whole mess with Burdovsky could have been dealt with a lot better if he had thought about it but I don't think it's just him - all those young men were pretty hysterical and Lizabetha Prokofievna is definitely a few sandwiches short of a picnic. And I've no idea what Nastasia Philipovna's game is...
There doesn't seem to be one 'normal' person between the lot of them.
