Being absolutely merciless, I throw my book on the pile: Ship of Storms--although I realize that Science Fiction may not be everyone's cup of coffee (tea or milk). As for being active here, I don't know if it'll be a problem or not, but I usually only speak up when I have something to say, and that usually depends on the topic. But I'll try.

I'd like to submit Elfineness for consideration. It's a paranormal romance novel in verse encompassing elelments of mythology, sci-fi and fantasy.

I'd like to nominate it, if possible. It's called Festival of Shadows, and it's a dark fantasy with elements of action/adventure, thrillers, and Choose Your Own Adventures.
I'm launching the book in July, and it would be great if it could be the group read for August or September. But any month in the future would be fine with me. :)

Congrats to Wren and Thomas! You are going to be our May Group Reads! I'll be starting a board for that ASAP :D
Thank you so much for submitting!
Also - I'm just going to delete submissions from previous groups reads to help keep my own personal confusion to a dull-roar as time goes on >,<

Would love for people to have a look at my new novel (it is my first attempt at self publishing. Thanks for the opportunity. Katie

I'll be joining this group as a reader after I've read and reviewed a few of the "Pay It Forward Challenge" books.
Thanks for setting this up.

It is 2027 and the youth of a failed America, forced into labor camps at the age of fourteen, have never tasted freedom. But all of that is about to change. Tonight, Penn and his crew are going under the wire.

The Eleventh Ring is a new full-length surreal metaphysical fantasy adventure novel chronicling the very strange world of Bartholomew Rabbit and his transformation from a sedate and naive country rabbit to Bartholomew the Adventurer, the most powerful shaper on the planet Earth. Set in the far distant future long after humans have vanished, this is a new world where rabbits and rodents have evolved to become the highest form of intelligence. Sooooo... if you like heroes, intrigue, evil kings with villainous schemes, talking trees with a thousand eyes, weird science, metaphysics, 10 foot tall robotic rabbits, infernal machines, dismal swamps, mystical islands, and the ever popular True Love – then this is the book for you.(less)

I'd love to have the group read it and would also be happy to send a .mobi file to anyone who would like to do a review of it. You might want to read my bio to get a better idea of the book's nature.
Thanks so much,
Tom

The book is Evolution of Angels. It's the first in the series and is currently on sale for 99 cents. I'll leave it that way a bit longer if selected.
Here is the link to Amazon, but it's also available on Kobo and Nook, if those are your thing.

Five Days: Which days would you choose?
Congratulations to Eva and K.P. for being our August Group reads
Also I'll be doing an activity sweep on this board. Any member who has submitted a book months ago but is otherwise inactive is ineligible and will be removed. They can always resubmit later but we won't promote authors who aren't active in the group.

I joined the group a while ago, but have since found myself overwhelmed by the number of active read and review groups that are out there. I'm committed to a couple of others, and what with constantly R/Ring and editing other writers' work as well as keeping up with Twitter and trying to write my next book I simply can't fit it all into the 10 hours a day 7 days a week that I have available!
If you have any advice concerning how I could tailor my contribution to this group to make it satisfactory while not involving more than 30-60 minutes a day I would be grateful to receive it. My initial experience with the group was that there was huge desire on the part of the contributors I tried to engage with for me to read and review and otherwise promote their work (naturally) without an apparent reciprocal interest in my own work. I had more success elsewhere in other words; but of course I understand these things depend entirely on how much effort you put into them.
It's a dilemma. Perhaps I should recognize my own time-limitations and cut down... which regretfully would mean removing myself from membership of your group.
Your thoughts, however brief, would be helpful.
Robin - it's really as simple as the members who submit a book and post most often compared to others who submitted are going to be the top picks for next month. Our winners generally make 100's of posts so it's all about activity in the group and rewarding those who are present and contributing.
I hope this answers your question. If you need to respond please message me directly so as not to fill the sign up sheet with unrelated posts.

I'm sorry we don't accept recommendations by any but the author and only read books by active members.

Thanks for giving me a chance to become an active member. *tucks emotions back under the sleeve* I understand. I have removed the previous thread. B.E Wilson is busy writing the next two novels to be released. He doesn't have the opportunity to be active on discussions, therefore I was filling that role on his behalf, WITH HIS PERMISSION. :-)
It's all good, I'll still be an active member because I truly support Indie authors, but geesh woman, give a girl a chance to put down some roots. LOL
Huggles!
James - in your submission for your book please include a goodreads link so we can find the book later. Thanks :)

The general approach will be members who participate will be encouraged to leave an honest review, participate in a discussion of the book as well as recommend it to any friends who might appreciate the novel also.
If you would like to have your book featured as a Group Read please follow these guidelines to be considered in upcoming months. There's not much to it but anyone who doesn't comply will not be a candidate for the Group Read until they edit their submission.
- Post a link to your book.
- Please submit one book only out of fairness to everyone having a turn but do post again later on.
Be aware of the following also:
- Monthly Group Reads will NOT be determined on a "first come, first serve" basis but the author's ACTIVITY in this group - such as posting recommendations for books, commenting on topics, etc. If this sounds like preferential treatment I apologize, however, this is to discourage people from taking advantage of the group's time when they are not invested in us overall or willing to reciprocate the good will we aspire to.
- Members are encouraged to purchase books to read as a show of support but authors are permitted to volunteer copies, if they're so willing. This is not a requirement or even suggestion, just a statement that there's no rule against it.
- When your book is selected, there is no guarantee it will be read since members who participate do so voluntarily. That would be unfortunate but beyond the control of the moderators of this group.
- Additionally there is no guarantee members will review, although that would be encouraged to do so as a courtesy and are asked only to be polite and honest about doing so.
- Finally, it would be great if any authors who request a read also participate in one at some point but that is not a prerequisite, just a nice gesture of returning the favor every so often.
That said, if you would still like your book considered for a Group Read then submit and hopefully we'll be reading your novel soon!
