***If you do not have access to your partner's shelf, please send a friend request to your partner!***
You now have one week to decide amongst yourselves how many books you will pick for each other, and to make those choices.

You can chat with your partner either here or by PM- PREFERABLY BY PERSONAL MESSAGE SO THAT THIS BOARD IS NOT CLUTTERED UP.

Either way, all of you MUST do a post on here this week that is similar to the example that I did on the first post:

My name: Jenny
My partner: Sarah
The books picked for me: Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer The Hunt (The Hunt, #1) by Andrew Fukuda
Cinder (read 3/16/2015)- 4 stars. Intriguing premise, great characters, and a really cool retelling that was unfortunately plagued by predictability.
The Hunt (read 3/28/2015)- 4 stars. The Hunt had lots of suspense, admirable lead characters, and kept me scared and nervous.

Note that you have until the end of October to read the books and edit/fill in the information/short review at the bottom.
Have fun!

The books picked for me: Wake (Watersong #1) by Amanda Hocking Time Between Us (Time Between Us, #1) by Tamara Ireland Stone The Burning Sky (The Elemental Trilogy, #1) by Sherry Thomas The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden (The Coincidence, #1) by Jessica Sorensen Parallel by Lauren Miller Invisible (The Twixt, #2) by Dawn Metcalf

Thanks Amanda, I'm really excited about reading these!

The Burning Sky (The Elemental Trilogy, #1) by Sherry Thomas 4 stars
Overall, I really enjoyed this fantasy, especially the world that was very rich. I also really liked the "school chums" scenes. Some of those boys were hilarious!

Wake (Watersong #1) by Amanda Hocking 4 stars. Overall, I liked it. Very creepy read, more than I thought it was going to be! Those sirens were SCARY!

Time Between Us (Time Between Us, #1) by Tamara Ireland Stone 4 stars. I'd heard really great things about this book. I loved the concept, and overall I did like the story. I had trouble believing in the romance for some reason, not really sure why. I loved the characters, though, and I really felt the friendship between Anna and Emma, as well as Anna and Justin. I really liked Anna's parents, too. Really glad I finally read this one!

The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden (The Coincidence, #1) by Jessica Sorensen 4 stars. This was a pretty typical NA story...both guy and girl damaged, find each other, try to make it work. I did think this one was more realistic in its viewpoint, though, and I really really liked the characters! I really liked it, except for that HUGE CLIFFHANGER!

Invisible (The Twixt, #2) by Dawn Metcalf 4 stars I love this series! This one was just as good, if not a little better than the first book, Indelible. I love fairy stories in general, and this one is very well done. And I love that this was not all about Ink and Joy, either. It was really more of Joy's story.

I just finished Parallel by Lauren Miller and I'm kind of pissed off LOL! I enjoyed the read, was really into it...but her realities were changing so much at the end! And then it had a perfect ending until the LAST PAGE, when another huge twist happened and ruined it! Well, it didn't completely ruin it, but it did leave me hanging! HA! I honestly do not know what to rate this yet. I need to calm down first!

Carry the Ocean (9/19/15) - 5 Stars. Great characters, very informative about Autism, Anxiety, and Depression. I think the author did a good job writing about these disorders. Very real.

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I'm Jen and my partner is June.
Here are the books she picked for me (which I can't wait to read!):

The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers, #2) by David Estes The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1) by Rae Carson Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2) by Erika Johansen Shades of Grey The Road to High Saffron (Shades of Grey, #1) by Jasper Fforde Dove Arising (Dove Chronicles, #1) by Karen Bao

The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers, #2) by David Estes I have this on my waterproof iPod Nano that I use when I swim - and I haven't been in the pool lately so I'm only about 60% through the book. But it's great, narrated by Julia Whelan and Will Damron and I'm really enjoying it. Probably will go straight to the next one as soon as I finish it.

The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1) by Rae Carson Really liked this one despite the ending! I like this author's writing. 4 stars.

Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas This one took awhile, which is unusual for me. I started it on audio and gave up - switched to the ebook. I totally skipped the chapters with the witches and that sped things along markedly. In the end I gave it 4 stars because it is a complex story and I loved Rowan.

The Invasion of the Tearling (The Queen of the Tearling, #2) by Erika Johansen This was good but not amazing. It alternated between past and present and ended up explaining the whole history of the Tearling. Great ending! I started this on audio narrated by Davina Porter, but since she narrated all the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon, I switched to ebook. I couldn't get past Claire Fraser telling me the story (lol) 4 stars

Shades of Grey The Road to High Saffron (Shades of Grey, #1) by Jasper Fforde This is complicated fantasy set in a world to which you absolutely must pay close attention. Although the audio is good I've switched to the print book, as I own it. Still working on it but I have to say that it's very clever and witty.

Dove Arising (Dove Chronicles, #1) by Karen Bao I DNF'd this one. The story just didn't grab me and the audio narration left a lot to be desired. Not for me.

message 18: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Well, I've started Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass, #3) by Sarah J. Maas and I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm finding it only meh and I don't like the witches at all (I have a thing about witches). I mean, to the point that I'm thinking of DNFing it. I'm not quite to that point but I hope it gets better. Caelena Sardothian is such a smartass and not in a good way.

This one starts out really slow...it takes awhile to get really into it. The characters and the storylines all start coming together...Calaena's storyline gets AMAZING about halfway through. Stick with it, trust me!

And you are right about Calaena...she is a spoiled brat a lot of the time, and very vain. She definitely has her flaws, and that's what I love about her. This book starts off with her in a very bad place after (view spoiler) So looking at that gave me some patience with her. Her life has been one big suck fest!

Here picks for me
The Martian by Andy Weir 4.5*- Mark vs. Mars. Highly recommend
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen - will read at a later date
From the Wreckage (From the Wreckage, #1) by Michele G. Miller - 4* I love the way this book was written - it is a flashback type of novel. Easy to read and engaging.
The Warrior by Joyce Swann - 5*, a great story, I devoured this in 2 days. I recommend highly
The Theory Of Invisibility by Aimee Pitta - 3* an interesting concept of dealing with grief. A bit slow in parts and sometimes the MC annoyed me.
The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin 4.25*

A good eclectic mix.

Andrea (alexandra14) | 218 comments I'm done with my first book Die for Me (Revenants, #1) by Amy Plum gave it 3 stars and even though it wasn't the 4 or 5 stars book I thought it would be, it still was interesting and kept me curious enough to finish reading. Just FYI - I liked the second book although it gets really strange and you have to remember that it's urban fantasy. Emphasis on the fantasy. And the third book went a direction that I didn't like at all. It almost turned into a dystopian where the main character completely changed. You might really like it - but I thought that third book didn't even fit into the trilogy.

But at least it's off your TBR list! ;) I've had a couple of painful ones as well but because I spent good money on the hardback, I leave it on my TBR list until I read it.

Every time I talk about these PIFM challenges on my BookTube channel or on Twitter, people ask how they can join in. Inevitably the signups are already closed here, so I started another one in my buddy reads group.

I'll be doing both. Just wanted to let you know I wasn't bailing on this group.

And btw, I am really getting into The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1) by Rae Carson ! I've wanted to read this ever since Jenny and Karen said it was fantastic. So far they're right!

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Finished The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1) by Rae Carson . Although it has a fantastic MC, I wasn't so sure about the story. She really does change and gain self-confidence and move beyond a poor self-image. I don't get why everyone gets upset about the whole fat thing - she just gets into shape. It's not like she gets really pretty after being plain or gets skinny. She just gets fit.
And (view spoiler) I'm going to check out the next book and just see if I want to continue with the series. I think I liked more about it than I didn't - but I definitely had some problems with it.
