marisol_lopez | 26 comments The book I read is Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. I like this book because it has a life lesson that you can’t always get what you want. The book is about Charlie and Algernon. Charlie is and never was too good at school and has a dream to be smart. Would recommend if you want to read this book to be 13 and older because it has some parts you want understand if you are younger. The author has also written The Asylum Prophecies, Algernon Charlie and I, The Touch and many more. He has won the Hugo award, Nebula award, Locus award and more. This is a great book for you to read!! Would you ever image your self being smart and then changed?

Brian | 1 comments Flowers for Algernon written by Daniel Keyes is a fiction novel that is difficult to let down once you have begun to read it. It makes one realize the startling possibilities the future may have in store for us. It is a very well-written novel, and I believe that people of all ages can find enjoyment and indulgence while reading this book. This novel also speads self-awareness while simultaneously keeping the reader entertained and mesmerized. It reveals startling truths of the world and ourselves. The world is hardly a warm, kind, and forgiving place, and this novel brings it out for the readers to see. I would recommend avid readers to pick up this book if he or she is interested in psychology, romance, or advantures that pushes the limits of man. If one is a psychology major in college, this book is great in explaining the functions of the human conscious as well as the unconscious mind, and how the unconscious mind, also referred to as the I.d, super-ego, and ego, has an immense effect on our lives even if we are not aware of it.
It is honestly hard to say anything negative about the novel other than the ending may leave you shocked, upset, enraged, or even solemn. I have only positive things to say about this book because it is one of those works of literature that will stay relevant until the end of time due to the fact that the issues discussed in the book will be talked about for generations to come. The mind is one of the last frontiers yet to be explored. So much of it still remains a mystery. Modern scientists, including neurologists, still only know a small percentage of the functionality of the brain, so there is much yet to be discovered about the network of the mind; that is why this book will remain relevant for future generations to come. It is a novel that keeps you guessing until the very even after you realize what is going to eventually happen. The book is that good. I definitely recommend anybody picking it up and reading it. It is a fast read, and once you have finished reading it in a couple of days, you will probably be tempted in reading it again. I'll bet on it.
