Do you enjoy crafting, gardening, sewing, baking, cosplay, gaming, watching movies, playing piano, basically anything you do, (other than reading) that you enjoy, this is the corner for you.

You can tell us about any recipes you have tried and loved, or ask advice on a particular subject, Or recommend a good movie.

The only rule is no mocking anyone's chosen hobby.

I have been a little lax on the reading front due to practicing my quilting.

plenty of wonky lines but overall happy with the results.

Chris Penna | 6 comments Wow, so you're a quilter as well!!! I don't do traditional quilting but am a avid art quilter. The color choices on your blocks are great! One of my projects I'm proposing to my art qroup for 2016 is to create a 12 By 12 Quilt based on your favorite book. What do you think?

I am brand new to the quilting, this is the second quilt I have made and used the quilt as you go method due to tiny house and small basic sewing machine (have to work with what you have) The fabric is from upholstery samples.

I had to look up what art quilting is about and all I can say is WOW. Knowing what it is, I think your idea based on a favourite book is a great idea. Interested in which book you have decided upon.

Chris Penna | 6 comments I was thinking about proposing doing a quilt based on your favorite "fairy tale" This will be discussed in length at our November meeting. Many of our members our also avid readers.

I could imagine there could be some great whimsical quilts made if you go down the fairy tale route...then again if you are going down the original ones it could be quite a blood thirsty affair. I guess folklore would be included perhaps?

I created this masterpiece of 70's retro quilt. (OK not so much of a masterpiece but I like it)

I manage to do some of that time wasting thing, usually Facebook sucks me into it's repetitive news feed.

Thanks Michelle, just done two more.

Lorena Beshello I like this corner. Painting is my hobby. Besides reading, painting is the second thing I do when I have free time. I would like to share something here but I don't know how.

I like abstraction, cubism, impressionism. I use oil colors and water colors. Sometimes I sketch too.

You can share it using the copy and paste method from the (some html is ok) link at the top of the comment box.

or this

img src="https://www.goodreads.com/image..." width="40" height="100" alt="description"/

so if you have posted a photo to facebook or somewhere else on the internet you need to right click on the image then copy the url, then paste it over the https: that is in between the " adjust the width and height and at the beginning of the bit I have posted you need to add < and at the end >

Practice this on here if you want, it would be lovely to see some of your work. xx

Also finished a quick quilt for my daughter where I tried out some free motion quilting needless to say this was not great plus the machine I used is very basic so I will be looking to upgrade once the pennies have been saved.
Just made a small zipped bag.

The colours are not quite correct as the camera on my phone seems to alter these.

Debbie Henderson | 17 comments Sarah I'm enjoying watching your quilting progress!

I started crochet late last year and I'm aiming for a throw! It's slowly coming along square by square and I see a definite improvement in the stitching as I make more! I'm enjoying trying new stitches and patterns and I'm hoping to progress to other things once I get this throw done - just for clarity I have around 12 squares so at the moment it's a very small throw or a decent sized pot holder depending how you look at it! ;)

I think Crotchet and quilting for that matter is great for those on the go, you can do a little then pick up when you have a spare moment. Would love to see your throw, or pot holder as it is at the moment.

I didn't have a clue Issie either I bought the cheapest sewing machine £80 Brother machine. Then I watched a lot of YouTube videos for tutorials and google for other things that I didn't know. If I can anyone can really you can. I also found charity shops invaluable for old bedding that I can use for practice rather than buying expensive fabric.

Issie (issieparis) | 24 comments Id love to make a quilt using old souvenir tshirts, like using the design as decoration and not have to throw them away because of the memories... Saw it on tv once and thought it was a splendid idea

Thanks Melanie, There really is a wealth of information at your fingertips, especially on YouTube, from simple small makes to more complex quilts. So far I have preferred using the videos as I work better with visual tutorial. Know of a quilting class I could take in the next town over however I cannot attend due to work so find I can learn whenever I have a moment to sit.

Thanks Lindsey, I am a very inpatient so I do have quite a few errors on my quilts, I am now making a quilt as a house warming gift for a friend so I am trying to be as slow and careful as possible so it turns out just right.

I know the ones you mean, I wanted to make one for my daughter out of her concert t-shirts, however she is not allowing me as she still wears them.

Issie (issieparis) | 24 comments Ohh one day she wont be able to wear them, thats gonna be the time for your quilt.
