YAS (notaaliyah) | 3 comments Hey fellow Toasties!

Anybody interested in reading & discussing the short-listed (or long-listed, I'm not picky) the Booker Prize 2015 books? I realize that some of these will be re-reads, but there are definitely a few on the list I'd read again.

Sduff222 | 14 comments I'm in! But it looks like Year of the Runaways isn't getting published in the U.S. until March. I think all the others are out, though.

Melanie Greene (dakimel) | 20 comments Well, I'm not going to reread A Brief History of Seven Killings - I loved it, but it's sooo long.

Otherwise, I'm very much on board! Great idea.

Meg I'm in too! I've read a few and will probably try to read a few more this fall.

Melanie Greene (dakimel) | 20 comments I have a book group here where we choose a monthly book & open specific (spoilered) discussion threads for each book, but they don't close. So when I get around to reading A Little Life, I can go back to that discussion thread & people will still chat with me about it.

Maybe do something similar here - just open six topics, each about one book, and we can pop in & chat about them when we've read them? Or do we want to be more structured?

xenu01 | 15 comments I love the idea of less structure since I don't have time for fun reading till after comps, but of you all decide to be more temporally synchronized, i can catch you next time!

YAS (notaaliyah) | 3 comments Less structure sounds good to me! I like the idea of having different topics running concurrently and having them stay open. What say each of us take charge of creating one, and maybe whoever creates that thread can commit to adding a thought or two about the book?

I can do this! I take my comps on Dec 1 or 2, so after that will create a thread for The Moor's Account, which honestly looks the most interesting to me though it did not make the shortlist. Not calling dibs, though, so if anyone reads it first they can feel free to create a thread for it instead.

I like the plan! I'll take pretty much any of them - I'm going to read all of them, eventually.
