I tried The Shining and found it toooo boring, and never tried that genre again! :P
It used to be cozy mysteries. Whenever these type of questions came up I always replied that I like any genre if I can find a decent book from it. But in practice, that really happens. Although once I did read a Romance and Fantasy book series by Larissa Ione.I too didn't like Shining. I gave it 2.5 and rounded it to 3. I found the second half of the book to be boring, but the opening ones were better than the movie.

I have also started liking Sci-fi and Dystopian books.
Luffy, I found Shining so boring that I dropped it after 26% :P

Well..I kind of read from every genre but my fav is Fantasy..Brandon Sanderson,Patrick Rothfuss, Brent Weeks,JK Rowling,GRRM,Rick Riordan and many others..
I read a wide variety of genres but the ones that I enjoy most are:--Golden-Age Mystery
--Cozy Mystery
--Historical Romance
--Contemporary Romance
--Romantic Comedy
--Chick-Lit
Mostly fiction: Romance, Chick lit, & Mystery although it seems like those specific genres seem to be intertwining.
Mine would be YA, Fantasy, Gothic horror and Classics.

I will read anything from historical fiction, crime thrillers, classics, ghost mysteries to the paranormal. If a book doesn't get me hooked in the first two chapters then I feel life is too short to waste time reading it.
No barriers of genres. I am open for everything interesting.

Wondering if Arpit is the only one who hates classics *_*
I think HATE is a very strong word to use here. I don't "hate" classics, I just don't prefer them that much. Although my buddy always forces me to read them, and somehow sometimes manages to trick me in to his classic books!!
