Jed | 1 comments Let's read Hold Fast to Dreams by Beth Zasloff and Joshua Steckel. It's narrative nonfiction about the barriers that young people of color face to a higher education--it really brings their stories to life and gives a personal take on the "college for all" debates that obsess national attention.
Thanks!

The group should check out "WE'RE CRAZY!, A Memoir about U.S. Values" here on Goodreads, to discover enough discussion material for at least a year. It is a guidebook for our children and grandchildren, to make sure they understand the mess the seniors are leaving them. Getting back on track is going to require clearer thinking about values than their parents have had. After a list of many of the questions that the book addresses in depth, the summary is, "Why compare your own answers with those in the book? Because the future of our nation depends on our values about these very subjects." And those values are of course about Progressivism and our Constitution.

The information about "WE'RE CRAZY!" directs readers to reading samples and to an extensive bibliography that is an education in itself. This is the book for those who want to think about where we are headed and what is important.

The title is unfortunate. Cement is a powder. When you put water in it and wait a while, it then becomes concrete.
