Farhan Saya | 21 comments Just want to know where you guys go to buy books in Karachi?

I normally look for the old books first at Sunday Bazar or the ones on University Road. Second option is Kitabain.com and last comes Liberty.

message 2: by Misha (new)

Misha (mishaone) It depends on whether I was looking for a specific title or just browsing for interesting stuff to read. If the former, usually Libery Books would have what I need, although a bit higher priced than other options.

For just browsing, I often try all the stalls at Sunday Bazaar and for other days of the week, there is a great used book store at Boat Basin that I've forgotten the name of but is the only store of that kind there so easy to spot.

And here I thought you were living in Australia :)

I think I know the used book store at Boat Basin you are talking about. It's next to Baloch Icecream, right?

I am now, but I lived in Khi for over 25 years so lots of good times searching for interesting used books in the places I listed. :)

And yes, I think that is the same book store. Great place and the owner actually sorts his books by genre, which is really refreshing (and easy to look through).

Hasan | 2 comments Sunday bazaar, book stalls near expo center, kitabain.com

Kitabain is probably the best with a diverse collection. Most book stalls carry the usual classic/trashy lit combo.

I also went to regel last week and found some great books for dirt cheap. 200 for 5 books and good ones at that. Henry miller, proust, some classics in hardback.

I never buy from liberty anymore. Too expensive. Its usually cheaper to buy off of amazon and get some relative to bring it along.

The bookstore at boat basin is mr old books, they have a great collection but i think they recently moved.

zainab (zainab_sheikh) | 771 comments Maria wrote: "Oh. Did you make a complaint then?"

I called them in December and they were like "the book will be back in stock in January" but nope I got it this month. But it's not with all of the books because the other two books arrived on time but this one was so, so, so late.

Zeshan Ashraf (zeshanashraf) | 32 comments There is an old book shop in Saddar "Tit bit books store", the guy there sells books at fairly discounted prices. Even if he does not have your required book, he will arrange it in a couple of days. I mostly buy from him and liberty books, when they have this "Karachi Book Bazar"
