2 books
Theme: Murder mysteries that take place on or around Halloween
1. Rest in Pieces (Mrs. Murphy #2)
by Rita Mae Brown and Sneaky Pie Brown
Mrs. Murphy thinks the new man in town is the cat's meow.... Maybe she should think again. Small towns don't take kindly to strangers--unless the stranger happens to be a drop-dead gorgeous and seemingly unattached male. When Blair Bainbridge comes to Crozet, Virginia, the local matchmakers lose no time in declaring him perfect for their newly divorced postmistress, Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen." Even Harry's tiger cat, Ms. Murphy, and her Welsh Corgi, Tee Tucker, believe he smells A-okay. Could his one little imperfection be that he's a killer? Blair becomes the most likely suspect when the pieces of a dismembered corpse begin turning up around Crozet. No one knows who the dead man is, but when a grisly clue makes a spectacular appearance in the middle of the fall festivities, more than an early winter snow begins chilling the blood of Crozet's very best people. That's when Ms. Murphy, her friend Tucker, and her human companion Harry begin to sort through the clues . . . only to find themselves a whisker away from becoming the killer's next victims.
(OK. It starts around Halloween)
2. Grave Peril (The Dresden Files #3)
by Jim Butcher (Goodreads Author)
To the best of my knowledge this is the first of at least THREE Dresden Files novels set on or around Halloween including COLD DAYS, which is novel #14 of the series. Halloween happens to be Harry's birthday.

...working on it... It was a busy weekend. Let me finish this homework and I'll get both threads updated. :)

Okay! Finally updated! Sorry y'all school this year is ridiculous. I'm kinda rethinking these AP classes. I'm on fall break now though, so I should be back for a few weeks! (Fall break, plus the few weeks after since I'll hopefully be re-charged.)
I went ahead and added myself to the sign-up, although I haven't chosen my books yet. I'll choose them later or tomorrow.
Since I have been so lazy this week, This book pool will remain open for sign-up until Sunday, October 4th. Already registered participants can begin reading books tomorrow. Everyone else, join in when you can!

In Publication order for the Halloween stories in the series:
FOOL MOON (Dresden Files #2)
GRAVE PERIL (Dresden Files #3)
DEAD BEAT (Dresden Files #7) and COLD DAYS (Dresden Files #14).

Oh okay - good to know Amber!"
Yeah, it is.
Progress report:
REST IN PIECES: page 10
GRAVE PERIL: page 42

Hey, just so everyone knows, I'll be mostly out of cell service and wifi for the next few days while I'm out of town. Hopefully I'll get some good reading in! (I'm bringing like 6 books :P) I should be back Wednesday evening. See y'all in a few days!

I added Fire, Gone, and The Martian for my picks. Yeah, I read the first books of several series back in the spring, Graceling being one of them, and now I'm trying to go back and finish out the series. :)
Points finally updated! Also, I'm currently a few pages into Fire, The Looking Glass Wars, and Cress because I couldn't decide what read next. And this is NOT a recommended approach, just for the record. :P

Progress report:
REST IN PIECES: finished last night. All 292 pages!
Haha oh okay... See I have issues with the whole "this Saturday" vs. "next Saturday". Everyone in my house habitually clarifies "not this Saturday but the next" just to be sure. :P

Fire: pg. 75 :)
I'm really going to kick myself if I let another month go by where I don't read 1984!~
I know how you feel - I've been doing the same thing to Legend for months... On the upside, if you don't read it this month you can always add it to the pool again next month since no one read it! Or we can buddy read it together, because I have also been putting it off and already picked it up from the library. :)
Would you like to do it then? Turns out my copy is actually due back this week, but I just re-requested it so I should have another copy by the end of the week.
Just updated points. Could everyone take a look when you get a chance and make sure I didn't miss anything? If I did just let me know. :)
I always feel so bad when another month goes by and I don't read half the books I meant too :| Unfortunately, The Martian and The Isle of the Lost haven't even come in from the library yet - not that I've had the time to read them. It looks like I should be able to finish Gone though, and maybe at least start Fire.

Yay!! I'll let you set the pace then :) And I'll set up the thread for us later so we can start reading it next week, if that's okay with you? And no, not yet - still working on Gone right now. Glad to hear that you like it though!
