The Fold
question
The Fold and 14

Ok, so we know that 14 and The Fold are supposed to be set in the same universe, and there are some pretty obvious connections between the two. But in an interview (http://suvudu.com/2015/06/take-five-w...) Clines says: "And if you have read both… there’s a little Easter egg that stretches between the two books. A fact that can be inferred. To the best of my knowledge, no one’s spotted it yet."
My question is: what could this easter egg be? I have some theories but I think they might be too obvious, Clines seems to have hidden something very subtle in The Fold if no one has connected it to 14 yet.
A few of my thoughts:
~ Veek is one of the two agents that recruited Mike and the others at the end of The Fold.
~ Andrew is the creature from the wasteland dimension with many arms and legs sewn together to create new joints.
~ Perhaps the reason Mike and the others were recruited at the end of The Fold was to go try and figure out what was going on at the Kavach building.
Honestly all of my theories seem too blatant to be the easter egg that Clines is talking about. Does anyone else have any theories?

Late to the party here, but I just finished 14 after reading The Fold first. I'm pretty certain a few of the easter eggs between the books are:
Andrew from 14 is definitely the Patchwork Man from the end of The Fold. Potentially made up of pieces of Tim and Oskar, also characters in 14.
Anne (the receptionist from The Fold) is the same Anne that worked with Nate at the magazine company in 14. The narrator uses the same voice for these two in the audiobooks. I'm also pretty sure she may be related to Andrew (which explains why she moved from LA to San Diego - because her brother died)
Koturovich's (sp?) math is used to get the Albuquerque door working.
Veek is definitely one of the agents in the Tesla at the end of The Fold and Mike talks about calling Nate from 14. Veek also has the same green phone that Tony/Cathy has in 14. If you listen to the Audiobook, it's the same voice for Veek in both. I believe the guy with her is Roger from 14. He's a "broad shouldered man who looked more like a jeans and t-shirt guy". That's pretty much Roger. The voice the narrator uses in the audiobook isn't the "Roger" voice, but Veek straight up refers to him as Roger when she is speaking with Mike. Everything "going back to zero" talks about the Kavach building's control panels. Nate's back at the building on the other end of the line. Mike and Jamie are invited to go live in the Kavach building.

I listened to the entire book trying to find the connections but can't think of many more than the ones you listed (despite the very obvious green roaches and the universe itself). And I'm really, really curious to know now...
I've just been reading 14 for the first time now (almost finished!) after I read The Fold this summer and something just struck me as a potential easter egg.
In Chapter 71, when the group is riding their bikes through the desert, they all seem to "skip" ahead at one point when they're riding. Suddenly Nate is half a mile ahead and soon the other bump into him. They describe it as a ripple or a distortion. It sounds an awful like the Fold to me. If so, are they all slightly different versions of themselves now too? Guess I'll actually have to go finish the book now.
Thoughts?

The fact that Veek and Roger drive up in a Tesla could be an easter egg in and of itself. :)
