Year-long NaNo discussion

(I'm just copying everyone else :)

DAILY WORD GOAL: 500

That's a great goal! :D Mine is to just write something every day. :P

Thanks! I can usually write a lot in one sitting, it's just finding the time. Yesterday I got over 2,000 words!! I was pretty ecstatic. :D

So yesterday I didn't do much writing, but spent a lot of time editing one of my other drafts. That's also what I'm doing a lot of today.

I know what you mean about finding the time!! There just aren't enough hours in a day!!

Yesterday I got 333 words. But in my defense, I was editing so I did A LOT of cutting.

My whole word count for the novel is 19,644.

“Why's everyone going outside? If there's an attack, don't we want to stay hidden?” Meryl asked, coming out of her daze.
Before Elise could answer, the ground shook violently, knocking nearly everyone to their knees. Chunks of the ceiling dropped onto their heads. Most of the tables fell with a thunk.
“That's why.”
Everyone scrambled to their feet and pushed through the entryway before another tremor could attack. Elise helped Meryl out into the open. Most of the blefos had already turned into orb form, and were all heading into a specific direction.
“Elise? Where's Owen and Matthias?”
“What?” Worry crashed into Meryl when she saw Elise's face.
“Owen?” Meryl called. “Matthias? Owe-”
A loud, angry cry interrupted Meryl.
“Eok,” Elise whispered worriedly.
Meryl repeated the word to herself. “What exactly are they?”
“We must find shelter immediately!”
“But what about Owen and Matthias?”
“We can't worry about them now, we have to get you to safety.”

Oooh, suspense! That's some good writing! I like that you didn't use dialogue tags at some points. When it's just two people, they're often not necessary. :D Nice job!

Yesterday I wrote 808 words (well, I did a lot of editing again, so really it's more then that). Making it a total of 20,452 words.

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted for awhile...

Anywho, I'm back now! So I had 16 pages of a WIP before NaNo, and during NaNo so far I've written 26 pages for the same WIP, making a total of 42 pages!! And a total word count of 26,063!!! XD

Now time for a (very brief) snippet that's chalked full of spoilers!! XD

“Yeah, practically. Guys, thanks for trying to help me cheer up, but I'm just not feeling into it,” I said, letting out a sigh.
“What are you complaining about?” Andy burst out. He had been so quiet I'd nearly forgotten about him. “For years I destroyed everything I touched! I was put in Juvenal Detention for destroying my home! I've sent countless people to the hospital with burned wounds! And you're complaining about having healing?”

Great job, Alyssa!!! You're ahead of me in Twinepathy!!! :P

Oh goodness, poor Andy!!! I WANT TO READ THIS STORY. We should definitely switch stories for beta-reading... ;)

I have another update everyone!!

So I'm a little behind, but I'm quickly catching up. I'm at 31,521 words, and I just wrote an emotion-packed scene. Here's a snippet:

“What about your parents?”
“They … I don't remember.” Acacia shook her head. “They … I remember now. Mom and Dad went to visit family. We got left with a babysitter, but then Mom called and told her to go home because they would be home within an hour. That night Andy and I waited for Mom and Dad to come home, but they didn't. They didn't come the next night either, or the night after that. Nobody came to get us. We lived by ourselves, stealing to survive. Then when I had to go to the hospital, the same thing that happened to Mom and Dad happened to Andy. For eight years I haven't seen my brother.”
Acacia sniffled, trying to keep back another sob.

Hey everyone!! So, I haven't exactly written anything more then a sentence or two since November, but I have just started up again with a new brilliant idea.

So for January my word goal is 500 words daily.

And, 'cause I'm in a share-y mood, here's a snippet!!!



Zeus swallowed a bite, and turned to Paige. “So, young lady, what might be your name?”
Paige hesitated a moment before answering. “Paige Sark.”
“Well, nice to meet you Paige Sark,” Zeus said, giving a smile. He held out his hand, and Paige shook it, though she quickly reclaimed her hand.
I waited for Zeus to ask for mine, but he didn't.
“So what brings you two here?” he asked.
So he wasn't ignoring me.
“Um, Clara brought us,” Paige said slowly.
Zeus nodded. “Yes. I got that. And why did young Clara bring you here?”
“I'm not quite sure myself,” Paige said, her brow furrowing. “Ask her yourself.”
Zeus turned to Clara and raised an eyebrow.
“Um, well, it's complicated,” Clara said, repeating the now familiar answer.
“And I've got all the time in the world. Well, all the time in the world until lunch,” Zeus said, holding up his hands and splaying his fingers.

I like it!! Keep it up! (I haven't really written much since NaNo ended either, so don't feel bad!)

Just got this notification! Two things:
1) My daily word count today was 4,314 total (I had the opportunity to solely write today without interruptions). So that's my daily word count!
2) Alyssa, I followed your blog and your Pinterest! :D

That's AWESOME!!! I think my highest word count was 3,000 (?), but I'd have to look on NaNo for specifics...

3,000 is still really good, Alyssa! I'm going to try to surpass 5,000, but I'm going to wait until tonight because I have a word war at 8pm CST. So I'm saving it! Haha! Also, I'm sure I'll enjoy them! I am already on Pinterest looking at your pins. Lol.
