I really hope someone buys the rights for a film series. I'm dying to see these film adaptations of these books.
Only 2 more VA books to go~ In a way, I'm sad it's ending, but am glad that we'll finally have a conclusion to who ends up with who and who is heart-broken, etc. etc. I hope the ending isn't one where Dimitri dies for good and Adrian finds someone else and Rose is left all alone.

Exactly. I'm thinking that if Lissa and Adrian end up together, Queen Bitch can be happy and Lissa might be able to heal Adrian's heart so everyone's happy and Dimitri and Rose can get married and have little babies~

I dunno, Christian and Lissa never really worked for me. I have nothing against them; I'm rather indifferent to their relationship. But if LissaxAdrian doesn't work out, there's always Sydney. XP Oh, whatever, as long as Adrian isn't too heartbroken at the end, I'll live.
I don't want him with Sydney. *shudder* She hates dhampirs and moroi anyway so that would NEVER work out.

What if you fall in love again and when you get to the here-after, your original love of your life was waiting for you. Then you have to choose don't you?
What if there was hope of bringing them back from the dead someday.
Maybe being alone and cherishing your memories is better than realizing your love for the person only extends up to till dead do us part.

That would be great, of course, if she loses Dimitri but still goes on loving him, but that's really not how it works. Hearts aren't made to love just one person. People move on (or they commit suicides). That's just how life is. And when it comes down to it, all that matters to me is that Rose is happy in the end. As long as all loose ends are tied and no body's left too broken, it'll be a satisfying ending for me.

Thats not what she's saying. She's saying, like what if Rose likes Adrian and then they fall in love with each other and then Dimitri comes back and wants to be with Rose. Rose would have to choose.
If that's what she's saying, then I sort of figure that's what's going to happen anyway. Like Adrian has already asked Rose out and since she decided to give him a fair shot, she'll have to go out with him and then she'll see she really does like him, but not like she loves Dimitri, and Dimitri hasn't died yet and that's going to be bothering both Adrian and her and she'll have to choose in the end.

Q: Since Rose has been shadow-kissed, will that somehow come into play with her [going on her mission at the end of book 3:]?
A: The powers that Rose has already exhibited from being shadow-kissed definitely come into play in Blood Promise, and you’ll see some of them returning. She’s also going to learn new things about spirit-users and being shadow-kissed…but as to how those affect her quest, well, you’ll just have to read the book!

Q: I was wondering if we were going to find out about what happened in the VA books with Rose's mom and dad. Who is he? Is he still alive? Will we get a chance to meet him?
A: Yes, indeed. Rose’s dad is still alive, and we are going to get to meet him sometime during the series. Naturally, I can’t tell you who he is or when we’ll see him! I can say, however, that he’s a pretty interesting character and not someone you’d expect Janine Hathaway to be involved with! He’s also not quite the kind of person Rose expects her father to be.

Q: What do you when you’re writing and nothing comes to mind on what to write, or if you do write something and you really don’t like it?
A: If I had all the time in the world, I’d just wait until something comes to mind. I’d go do other things—movies, reading, etc.—and not stress about writing. Unfortunately, I don’t have all the time in the world anymore. I’m turning a new book over every 2-3 months, which means if I don’t have ideas…I have to force them. Sometimes they’re good; sometimes they’re bad. The thing with books (and this answers the second part of your question) is that they go through lots of editing and revising with my publisher before hitting the shelves. So, hopefully, if I write something bad that I don’t like, I later get a chance to change it.

Q: Why Russian? Out of all the cultures Dimitri could have been, why was Russian the culture you picked when you thought of Dimitri?
A: A lot of the vampire stories that we have in the US and other parts of western civilization come from Eastern Europe, particularly Romania and Russia. I took classes on this in college, and when I went to research VA, I decided to use the myth of two races of vampires from those regions. So, when creating the Moroi and dhampirs characters, I had a lot of them born in Eastern Europe since it seemed inevitable that a lot of them (even the American-transplants) would have roots in those countries. That’s why Dimitri’s from Russia. Plus, the accent is hot.

How many titles can we expect in the Vampire Academy series?
There will be a total of six, likely to be followed by a spin-off series about different characters.

What can you tell us about Blood Promise without too many spoilers?
It's hard for me to talk about this, without giving away the ending to the previous book (in case people haven't read it). But in Blood Promise, Rose is trying to right the wrongs of the last book and finds herself going abroad to do it. This is the first book that doesn't take place at the school.

I like the complexity you give to some of your minor characters. That said, are we going to see more of Adrian?
You will definitely see more of Adrian! In fact, in Blood Promise, we see a lot of him and find him developing in new ways (but don't worry--he still has his bad boy thing going on).

Have you thought about filming this series?
Sure, I'd love it, but it isn't anything I have any control over or can do myself. I have to be approached by film company, and they have to offer to buy the rights to make the movie (or show). So far, no one has, so keep your fingers crossed.
