Dan Taylor (dantaylorauthor) | 11 comments If you're a fan of the Myron Bolitar series, you must've asked yourself this at least once: Who would play the big guy on the silver screen?

I know I have, and I can think of no better actor than Kevin James in a pair of six-inch heels.

Who's your pick?

message 2: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments Jason Sudeikis is my choice.

message 3: by Dan (new)

Dan Taylor (dantaylorauthor) | 11 comments Great choice, Barbara. I can totally see him in that role. What about Jessica? Kim Cattrall?

message 4: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments For Jessica....maybe Diane Kruger

(Kim Cattrall is beautiful but, I think, too old for the role)

For Win....maybe Chris Hemsworth

message 5: by Dan (new)

Dan Taylor (dantaylorauthor) | 11 comments Ouch. Too old. But I get it, if Jason Sudeikis is playing Myron. Diane Kruger, left-field pick, but I like it.

Jesus, I forgot about Win. Chris Hemsworth is good, but I've always imagined Paul Bettany in the role.

Quite the cast we've got already. Now, let's get down to brass tacks. Big Cyndi?

message 6: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments Paul Betttany would be good. He's got that handsome, elegant sociopath aura :)

For Big Cyndi I suggest Dot-Marie Jones (the woman who plays Coach Biest on "Glee")

Dan Taylor (dantaylorauthor) | 11 comments Good choice. There's no way I can top that. Jennifer Lopez as Esperanza?

For Esperanza I would suggest Michelle Rodgriguez; she has that tough girl, in your face vibe.

What about Myron's parents?

Another fine choice. You're good at this.

I reckon Barbara Streisand his mom and Brian Cox as the dad.

You?

message 10: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments I like Barbra Streisand as the mom. Good choice.

Now Brian Cox....I don't know. From the movies/TV shows I've seen him in I associate his face with a ruthless killer - or some other kind of bad guy.

It might be fun to cast Barbra's real life husband James Brolin.

message 11: by Dan (new)

Dan Taylor (dantaylorauthor) | 11 comments lol, I know what you mean. James Brolin fits.

now, it wouldn't be a movie without the Ache brothers...

message 12: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments I don't think I know who the Ache brothers are.....

message 13: by Dan (new)

Dan Taylor (dantaylorauthor) | 11 comments They're the gangsters who run the rival sports rep firm

message 14: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments Oh ... I didn't remember them. I guess u have to cast those guys :)

message 15: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9978 comments Someome should really make a movie - I bet some producer has an option on the books. Tho our cast would probably be better than theirs,
So many films based on books are miscast.

message 16: by Michael (new)

Michael (micky74007) Tom Cruise. He can play anything. Just ask him.

Well he's handsome enough. He'd need a blonde dye job though. :):)

Jessica - Jamie - Lynn Sigler
Esperanza - Aida Turturro

Gretchen | 0 comments Paul Bettany as Wiin would be spot on.
Myron: Armie Hammer or Vince Vaughn? Not sure on this one but a tall actor would be great. Tom Cruise is not pulling off Jack Reacher, in my opinion.

I think Paul Bettany would be good as Win. This is his picture:

Myron: James Marsden

message 33: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Bright There's only one actress I know of who would make the perfect Big Cyndi: Lindsay Kay Hayward.

message 34: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Bright Is Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) too young to play Win? Because I think he'd be perfect.

message 35: by Debbie (new)

Debbie Bright I also really like Jason Segel for Myron.

message 36: by Matthew (new)

Matthew | 88 comments Weirdly, I've read a bunch of Coben's standalone novels but only the first Bolitar, and based on Deal Breaker, I think John Krasinski and Paul Bettany would be ideal for Myron and Win, respectively. Very curious what the chemistry between those actors would be, too. Side-note...am watching Stay Close on Netflix now and it's terrific.

message 37: by James (new)

James Best (jamesbest) | 299 comments While I like the idea of Paul Bettany as Win, the actor is now 52 years old. If you want Myron Bolitar to be a long running, action oriented franchise, you need to cast younger actors in the role. Otherwise you run into the Roger Moore/007 too-old-for-the-role problem that nearly sunk the Bond franchise during the 80s.

Krasinski, Levi, and Cohen are all about 6'3" tall, so they could have played Myron (who is supposed to be a former college basketball player at Duke) but the first two actors are now 42-43 years old. So you run into the same problem as Bettany. And Cohen is now 51 years old and counting.

Marsden is 49, so even though he would have been a good fit for playing Win back in his youth, he is also getting too far up on the age scale.

It is tough to cast Myron due to his height requirement and the fact that he (and Win, since they were college roommates) needs to be in his late 20s or early 30s. Personally, I think that Levi would have been perfect for the role back when he was playing "Chuck" on television for NBC. But that window has long since closed.

What do you think about Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) for Win?

message 39: by James (new)

James Best (jamesbest) | 299 comments What do you think about Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) for Win?

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Win is a blonde haired, blue eyed, WASPish yuppie from an upper crust East Coast background. I haven't seen Felton play any character like that. And at 35 he is pushing the age limit as well.

I would have to think long and hard to come up with some decent casting for all of the characters. It is just a shame that Hollywood didn't jump on the Myron option about 20 years ago. I would have put Ryan Gosling in the Win role immediately.

Maya | 1 comments I'm a bit late to the party but here's my fancasting of some of the Bolitar characters (I've tried to keep them all pretty young):
Myron: David Corenswet. He's pretty tall (6'3) and he seems to have recently gotten pretty buffed up to play Superman, I have also seen him in Pearl and in Hollywood and I think he was absolutely great there. (plus he look pretty similar to Henry Cavill who I've seen many people fancasting as Myron).
Win: Lucky Blue Smith. If you've seen him model for Ralph Lauren you know what I'm talking about. Although, I have to say that he has barely any acting experience, so if not him than I'd cast Austin Butler.
Ezperanza: either Carmela Zumbado or Alexxis Lemire.
Big Cindi: Lindsay Kay Hayward (although with a bit more colourful outfits and makeup).
Jessica: Margot Robbie (everyone knows Margot is absolutely gorgeus so It's quite fitting for her to play Jessica).
Terese: Olivia Cooke.
Emily: Emmy Rossum.
Brenda: Laura Harrier.
Ali: Elizabeth Lail.
Ellen: Jamie Lee Curtis or Lisa Kudrow (one an older actress and one a bit younger cause I couldn't really decide which age was better).
Allen: Bryan Cranston or Josh Brolin (again one older and one a bit younger).

Neveen | 2 comments The age thing might be a concern but i do like some of the names suggested (John Krasinski and Jason Segel). I also love Ryan Rynolds and I think he can pull off a Myron or a Win, he’s pretty tall and funny! Neil Patrick Harris is how I imagine Win while reading, I think the character reminds me too much of Barney from HIMYM.

Judy Reyes (from scrubs) is the Esperanza I imagine and Amber Riley (Glee) my Big Cindi.
