Time to open nominations for November and December group reads!!!

Please read the rules for nominating BEFORE you create your post!! And check our bookshelves to be sure you are not nominating something we have already read as a group!

The categories for November and December are:

November- Food Themed / fiction or non fiction books that deal with food in some way, shape of form (but no cookbooks!)

December - Winter Theme

If you nominate the book, and the book is chosen as a group read, you agree to lead the discussion! Don't worry, it's not hard, and we'll love you all the more for it!

Please do not nominate a book more than once. A book can only be voted on once, so multiple nominations within this thread are not counted.

Only ONE nomination per month per person.

Please be sure to post the title, author, and the month you are nominating it for.

Ideally, you can type it as follows -
August - Room - Emma Donoghue

If your post does not have those three things, it will not be counted.

Are you ready?

I'll accept nominations through the 10th. If we get tons of nominations, I may pull the plug on it a little early, so get them in as soon as you can!

Once I close nominations I will create the polls and let you know when it is time to vote!

Hit us with your best noms!

**Important note: At no time is it acceptable for an author to nominate one of his/her own books for the monthly group read. Likewise, it is not acceptable to "push" nominations or votes within this group. It also follows that "a nomination for a nomination" is not acceptable. If I suspect a push, or inappropriate actions have taken place within the group read nominations or votes, I reserve the right to deem those nominations or votes as ineligible.

I'd forgotten about this one — saw the author on I believe the Colbert Report when it first came out and meant to add it to my "to read" list.

Nominations are closed. I left them open longer hoping we'd get some more noms. It's looking kinda light this time....

So, polls are open.

Go here https://www.goodreads.com/poll/list/1...

And vote in the two books you'd most like to read along with us for November and December.

Polls close on the 20th.

And we have our winners!

For November, we will be reading Garlic and Sapphires: The Secret Life of a Critic in Disguise!

And for December, The Snow Child!

Both books were nominated by The Book Concierge so she'll be hosting the discussions : )

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) Woo Hoo! Have wanted to read both of these for some time and this gives me the "excuse" to get them off my tbr and onto the "read" list.

I've read other books by Reichl and all I can say is ... be sure you either have snacks ready, or you lock them away because you are gonna get hungry ....

Heather L (wordtrix) Wow, I never even saw this thread before today, and was even looking for it earlier this month. I would have definitely voted for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Ah, well... :-/

Oh Heather. I'm sorry. I had it in the Monthly Newsletter and it's been right here since the first. Same spot as always.

There's always next year, right?
:)
