There is something about October that makes you want to read scary books. Wonder what it is?

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I'll be reading Turn of the Screw at the end of the month for a buddy read as well as here. Not sure on others yet

Stella (stellarreads) | 46 comments I'm going to read A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness, because it's been on my tbr shelf for quite some time now, so I'll use the readathon as a motivation to finally pick it up.

So I will read The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman instead. If time permits I will also read some of the two I have started: Cress (The Lunar Chronicles, #3) by Marissa Meyer and Assassin's Creed Renaissance (Assassin's Creed, #1) by Oliver Bowden .

Grace | 6 comments I recently finished reading several Halloween/Autumn themed books, so I'm going to finally tackle A Storm of Swords

message 38: by Cindy (new)

Cindy | 384 comments The Phantom of the Opera is only 188 pages, so I will probably add Hallowe'en Party by Agatha Christie. That is the plan but I could change my mind several times before this readathon is over.

message 39: by Marina (new)

Marina (sonnenbarke) I'm not reading anything Halloween-related for the readathon, since I am doing a team challenge with another group and I need all the points I can get.
So I'm starting with Il latte è buono (There's no English translation, but it translates as "Milk Is Good"), by Garane Garane, a Somali author who lived in Italy for years and therefore writes in Italian, even though, if I'm not much mistaken, he lives in the US now. It's referred to as "the firts postcolonial novel of Italian literature, so I think this is going to be interesting. After that (it's a very short book) I think I'll be reading Dramen, that is, the collected theater by Elias Canetti, my favorite author. There's only one of the plays I haven't read yet, but it will be nice to re-read the other two. I still have to decide what I'll read afterwards...

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments I'm reading Broken, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Power in the Blood - also reading a few non-Halloween novels (starting with Nights in Black Satin)

Broken (Women of the Otherworld #6) by Kelley Armstrong Power in the Blood by Brenda Robertson Stewart Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter by Seth Grahame-Smith Nights in Black Satin (Nights, #1) by Noelle Mack
