Oh I remember reading Carrie forever ago. I wouldn't mind reading it again but I think I'm going to hold off on that.

I would love to take the time to reread it every year and maybe one year soon I will do exactly that. I love those books and I have been trying to read them to my oldest son but it's hard for him to sit still through the books right now. I think the newest illustrated version will be the way I go with my kids right now though.

I'm currently read The Girl With the Steel Corset.

message 8: by Kaleigh (new)

Kaleigh | 4 comments I finished Paper Towns as well as Side Jobs: Stories From the Dresden Files earlier this month. I am currently reading Ghost Story which is absolutely frustrating me to no end right now (I went into it with a negative attitude, which never helps). I just started Afterworlds the other night and absolutely love it so far.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross last night. I started Unwind (Unwind, #1) by Neal Shusterman today!!!

message 10: by Ryan (new)

Ryan M (raneymarie) | 89 comments At my local library in the hopes to get my hands on Paper Towns, and it looks like the only copy is out, (the downside of living in a small town!). So I will be starting Twelve Years a Slave today, been wanting to watch the movie so this will be a good read before I rent the movie. I also have checked out The Girl of Fire and Thorns and Graceling, so those should keep me busy for the next few weeks at least!

I am going to try reading the Harry Potter books with my six year old again at the beginning of the new year. I just receive a copy of the Illustrated version.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't have kids yet but I'm planning to reread the Harry Potter series just because I like them so much. Lol.

Shame shame. lol I totally get it. I let my son watch the movies. He hasn't watched all of them yet. He's watched up through number three. So I am hoping to get him into reading them again once the new year starts. We got half way through book one before he lost interest. I am hoping that this will change since we have the illustrated version this go around.

You know everyone loves to re read them at least once a year. You just gave me an idea for a series read along for next year. One Harry Potter book a month for seven months. That would be great. I need to write this down so I don't forget this idea. lol

Hbomb "You know everyone loves to re read them at least once a year. You just gave me an idea for a series read along for next year. "

YES! So up for that! I've only read the books once and have been trying to sit down and read through them all again. A read along might just get me to commit :)

So in the coming months we will discuss more on this topic and get a plan on when we will be reading these. But I think the Harry Potter re read for everyone is a good idea. And I think this is something we can all get behind.

Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Ryan M (raneymarie) | 89 comments Wow, okay I just wrote out a whole paragraph to have only the last few lines show up on the reply...LOL

I inhaled the 3 books I picked up from the library last Thursday (15). Two of the books are listed as young adult readers and I found them to be very fast and easy reads ( Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore and The Girl of Fire and Thorns (Fire and Thorns, #1) by Rae Carson ) I give them both 3 stars as I did enjoy them and will be continue each book's series.

Now I absolutely LOVED Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup ! My review is linked in the above post and I can't say it enough, a truly inpsiring story!

I am going to start Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas and The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns, #2) by Rae Carson (Friday 23)

I am also attempting a book-a-thon in another group this weekend to see how many pages I can read from Friday 23 (12am my time) to Sunday 25th (12am). Should be Fun! :)

Oh my gosh you should love Throne of Glass! I have the next three books in the series and I will be reading them over the next couple of months.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know about you but I tried reading throne of glass and the second book of it but I couldn't. I couldn't like it. But I have A Court of Thorn and Roses by Sarah J Maas. The author has great writing skills so I want to give her a chance even though I hated Throne of Glass.

I really want to try reading that book and see how I like Sarah J Maas. I feel like Throne of Glass just didn't cut it.

I need Blue and Gansey. I'm so over Adam. The Noah kiss was cute. So funny. I lol'd. Ronan is my fav bad boy though but not for Blue. I'm listening to them so I'm bummed too because the next one isn't available at the library on audio and if I start a series on audio I like to finish it that way.

I am so horrible. Most of the books everyone mentions just about that is in YA I have sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read. -goes to her bookshelves and stay there until twelve books are read; I really need to read some of these books you guys have mentioned. I don't have a set TBR for next month I might just pick up some of these and go ahead to start reading.

Don't worry I do that too. Since I mostly read YA, I have a shelf that I just out grew that is designated for books I need to read by haven't. A lot of books that are mentioned are on there that I haven't read as well.

I have the time to read a lot I just have to stop every so often and with NaNo WriMo this month I am totally lost there. I read when I need a break from typing and I read before I go to bed. Then since I have to break from NaNo to go pick up my son I get about an hour of reading time there.

During holidays for school I don't get much reading done because I am always having to break up fights between my boys (verbal and physical) 28 months apart and they drive each other nuts. So my reading during school breaks are always really slow. During school I get plenty of reading done.

I unfortunately at one point hit a five month reading slump and that nearly killed me because I kept receiving books and they were all really great books that I wanted to read and it was like crap the reading slump.

I understand. I'm not a mom yet. But I work in a care home. At night I read since all my patients are sleeping. It's hard to read at home because my hubby is clingy or cause my sister in law wants to hang out and whatnot. Someone is always bugging me at home. But at work I read like crazy. Sadly, when I get into slumps they last from 5-9 months.

My husband likes his video games so thankfully when he is playing I can read. I have to say that I am glad he is an only child. The only person I hang out with when I get the opportunity is another mom with two of her own and then my mother in law and my parents since we live with them.
