It had 27 books and 2 pamphlets. I remember reading 1/3 - 1/2 of the books. So I'll go through them, and give away the ones I no longer have interest in.

And this is why I love you.
"Criminally Insane"
Gosh, I wish I could figure out how to use that as a tag.

We amuse ourselves. Your mileage may vary.
@MrsJoseph: that's why mixed case was invented

No spaces makes it work for a tag in any system, although no spaces in tags makes me unhappy for the most part.

LOL
Sorry, I meant use it as a tag on my profile (without the added stigma of "criminal.")

Trying to see the funny side of things is my default position. Otherwise I'd just cry all the time...

I've unsubscribed to those, but according to a thread in the GR Feedback group, there are others who didn't get their weekly update email. With it being the weekend, though, GR hasn't responded yet.

Since you've read a few books, please tell me: where do these people park their houses?????!? And how much is monthly parking?

Since you've read a few books, please tell me: where do these people park their houses?????!? And how much is monthly parking?"
It depends greatly on the location.
For example, here in Nashville there are two options: On wheels in an RV campground that allows non-RVIA vehicles, or on permanent foundation on a property with an existing primary residence. Due to the classification of tiny houses and our existing zoning / building regs, there's currently no way to have it as a single permanent dwelling on a lot here. You can also park it at your house on wheels but living in it is limited to 30 days if you do that.
Other states / cities have better options. There are tiny home communities in some places.
One reason some places are hesitant to take up the issue is because tiny houses are often pushed for and promoted by two groups in particular: the eco-conscious looking to reduce their footprint, and those seeking to provide affordable housing for the homeless. Sadly, both of those groups often elicit a negative response in some people (and to be fair, there are valid reasons for concern in some cases).
Some people here in Nashville are using them as AirBnB accommodations. Which bothers me. A lot. It's not only illegal at the moment, they've bypassed the process that insures that it's a safe dwelling. It's also more proof that AirBnB doesn't verify that their hosts are obeying the law and providing safe places to stay.

Other than a trailer park, that is. But they are refusing to call them trailers. but - for the most part - that is what most of them are (or an RV). At least the ones I watch/see on TV.
So as we watch this "trend" grow, we wonder what people are doing for water, sewage, etc.
And we wonder if the cost is really as small as people try to claim. Because you HAVE to have a place to park it (if wheels) or brick it if permanent. And if you do that, you need sewage and water and electricity hook ups. And land rental fees.
One of the ppl were talking about living in a (as I've been calling them) Tiny House Park and paying something like $650 or more a month to park! That's not including utilities. And no comment was made as to if they paid the house out in full or if they have a mtg (or loan of some sort).
And I have to wonder about being road capable and ready since most of the Tiny Homes now are "vehicles" - unless they've changed the law (which could have happened). And trying to sell them...
I'm thinking if the law hasn't changed, a lot of ppl will be blown when/if they try to sell on the regular market or if they try to get an mtg.

Ahhhh.

A lot of the problems they discuss are things I wonder about, too.
I mean, going small is a good idea - especially if you live in crowded areas like we do here. But here - even though it would be helpful - there is no place where someone could build or park something like that.
The real estate market is very strong here. Instead of doing something like that, you can either move out of the city (what we did though we MISS it so much) or you can shell out $3000+ for a
pied-à-terre sized housing; you can shell out around from $250k-$450k for a fixer upper OR you can just buy a place already done or not too bad but then the sky is the limit. Condos are a grip here and its only getting worse.
Add to that the cost of parking !!! (either a monthly fee or $20k-$75k to buy) and it's like move out of the city.
