November Group Read (2015) - Nominations [CLOSED]
Fantastic idea! Because James mentioned Salman Rushdie as literary inspiration in his acceptance speech I nominate Midnight's Children.

I second the nomination for "The Finkler Question" and use my second second for "The Famished Road." (because I have not read either one.) I've read several of the other nominations.

That'll teach me to read things properly!

I'll nominate Schindler's Ark by Thomas Keneally, 1982
Second: Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie, 1981
Second: Rites of Passage by William Golding, 1980

And I second Rites of Passage and The Famished Road.

The God of Small Things has been nominated, so I will count this as a second :)

Offshore has already been nominated. I will count this as a vote for it.

I want to hear from you all because this group would be nothing without your participation. So instead of just picking the November read myself, I want you to nominate a book!
I think the best way to do this is for everyone to be allowed to nominate 1 book to read, and then to second 2 books from other members' nominations. Whichever book has the most votes by October 24th (I want to give a week or so for people to pick up the book if they need to reserve at the library or go buy it), will be our November read!
The only rules are that the books have to be past Man Booker winners. And eventually when we run out of books to read--which will be a while--we can move on to shortlisters, longlisters, etc.
So the polls are open!
You may nominate 1 book and second any 2 others.
I'll open up the nominations with The Finkler Question by Howard Jacobson.
Happy voting!
