A top contender for the Printz, and a brilliantly written fantasy. 11 year old Triss has been in an accident, and is having trouble remembering some, but not all, things. She's become ravenously hungry, her younger sister hates her, and her hair has started shedding...leaves.
A marvelous journey with gorgeous prose, this is a not-to-be-missed fantasy novel. Spooky, tender, and full of surprises, it has very well-developed characters, a fast-moving plot, and thoughtful writing on family dynamics and the effects of war.
I completely agree- this book was a fantastic read and was so well paced- pieces of what happened to Triss are revealed in such a way that it is impossible to put this book down. It's a perfect read at this time of year (and at any time of year).
