Trelawn I have recently read some modern additions to old favourites and really enjoyed them. I thought Jill Paton Walsh's Peter Wimsey books were excellent, had i not known I would have assumed they were written by DL Sayers herself. PD James' mystery set in Pemberley and Anthony Horowitz's Sherlock story were also excellent. I was wondering what other peoples experiences were with modern add ons.

Marianne Williams I have read Death comes to Pemberley and thought it was good. It picked up some of the threads of Pride and Prejudice and created a good murder mystery. I have House of Silk in my TBR pile.

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) I didn't like James' PEMBERLEY, but particularly the last volume of Walsh's Peter Wimsey sequel really took off. There is a new one just out, which I have to go look at.

Trelawn There's a new Wimsey book? I had no idea, what's it called?

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) THE LATE SCHOLAR, I think. It was out in December.

Trelawn can't believe i didn't know about that. thanks for enlightening me :-)

Ellen | 227 comments I really like the recent Wimsey books. I thought the Horowitz Sherlock was ok but I couldn't finish the P.D. James Pemberly.

The new Wimsey book comes out in the USA in June.

Trelawn Thanks for that, i'm in Ireland though and it was released here last december. don't know how i missed it. I really enjoyed House of Silk although I found the ending tough to read.

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) I thought Walsh really broke through into excellence at the latter part of ATTENBURY EMERALDS (everybody who has read it, you know where I mean) and I am hoping she can sustain it in the next book.
