Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi all,
I am available to beta read partial or full manuscripts in any genre except sci if or fantasy. I'll take a good romance, a bit of crime or a historical saga among many others. As a beta reader, I'll check for flow, let you know if the tone and structure work with the content and if you give me specific questions of where you have found troubles writing or putting an idea together, I can concentrate on that and give some ideas for making it work.
I work in online community building and am a lifelong reader of anything that gets put in front of me so I am always around words, stories and content and have been for many years. I won't do a single day turnaround as I like to be pretty thorough I anything I take on!

Sarah.

April Grunspan (agru) | 12 comments Hi Sarah,

I have a piece of literary fiction (character driven) in the form of a first person memoir. It's a third draft and has reached the point where it really needs a beta reader to go over it. It sits at about 64,000 words.

Let me know if you'd be interested and, if so, what format you prefer. my email is april-g at satx dot rr dot com.

Thanks!

R.L. Tighe (rltighe) | 73 comments Hi Sarah

How do you feel about short stories? As am looking for Betas for a cautionary tale with a touch of fantasy currently consisting of just under 5000 words. Is this something you may be interested in?

Many thanks

C.B. Burdette | 11 comments Hey Sarah,

Would you be interested in doing a partial review on my suspense novel? I'd just send you a few chapters to see how the flow of the writing is and if the reader can connect the way I'd like them to.

-C.B. Burdette

Rod Baker | 119 comments Hi Sarah, it would be much appreciated if you could give me your thoughts on a few chapters of my memoirs about when I went to sea as a 16 year old.

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi RL, CB and Rob,

I'd be happy to read your offerings and give my thoughts, send to redsage@me.com (any format) and we can go from there. I have a few ahead if you, but if you don't have any urgency, I'm more than willing to go through for you. (Also let me know if there is something specific you want me to comment on!)
Sarah.

Steven Freeman | 57 comments Hi Sarah,

I am approximately one month away from completing a romantic thriller/mystery ("Havoc"). I have completed 59K of the ~65K-70K words of the finished novel.

Would you be interested in reading the first few chapters or the entire work? I would be happy to send you the manuscript (now if partial, in ~ one month of waiting for complete story). Please let me know if you'd rather have PDF instead of Word and to what email address I should send the file.

This work is the fourth in a series. I have written it as a standalone work, and I'm particularly interested in seeing if it works well for those who have not read the previous novels.

To see if my writing style is your cup of tea, below are the two volumes that have been published already (#3 will come out in a month or two):
Nefarious
Ruthless

Thanks,

Steven F. Freeman

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi Steven, escapist fiction just in time for my long plane flight? Sounds perfect! If you want comments in the manuscript, then send in Word, but for feedback in a separate document / email, then PDF or any reader format is fine..... Looking forward to it!
Sarah (redsage@me.com)

message 14: by Steven (new)

Steven Freeman | 57 comments Sounds great! I can send tonight, tomorrow, or Sunday (later=more finished). When do you leave. I'll send it just before then, if that works for you.

message 20: by Juliette (new)

Juliette Godot (juliettegodot) Hi Sarah,
I'm a little late to this conversation, but I would like a couple more responses from betas. I have a historical that has a little mystery, a little romance and a little paranormal and I really need a couple more opinions. When you get the others done, would you add mine to your list?
It's 2 books, both around 75,000 words.

message 21: by Steven (new)

Steven Freeman | 57 comments Hi Sarah,

FYI...I just sent the completed manuscript of "Havoc" to your email. Thanks for taking a look at it!

Steve

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi Janet,

So long as you are happy for me to complete what I have and aren't in a hurry, I'd be very happy to have a read, the mystery angle already has me hooked!! Send to redsage@me.com along with anything you want me to specifically look for or a book blurb/synopsis if you have it.

Steve,

Thanks for your email, looking forward to getting in to this one on holiday!

Sarah.

Really sorry I haven't been able to send my story to you (e-mail issues). Would it still be okay to send it please- its under 3000 words. I understand if you no longer have the time to look over it.

Pls Let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

Nikki | 57 comments Thank you Sarah!
Just emailed you a few pages.

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

Looks like you might be swamped based on comments here. Interested in taking on another? Novella 10K. I could send you first section (1500 words) for a taster. I'd like to know where the story is interesting and where it puts you to sleep or confuses. No extensive commenting necessary.

message 31: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi MK - sorry I took so long to reply, have been on holidays (and reading a backlog of manuscripts!) If you have time to wait a month or two, I can get to yours, but otherwise I'm a bit spoken for! (a great problem to have....)

Sarah.

Hi Sarah,

I just finished the first book of my two-book series, Chronicles of a Dancing Heart, Opening Number. It's a sexy romance novel. It does have some explicit sexual content, but it is not erotica. Would you be available to do a beta read?

message 33: by Varian (new)

Varian Krylov (variankrylov) | 12 comments Hi Sarah,

I am seeking a beta reader for an m/m erotic novel (with a couple m/m/f and m/m/m scenes) of just under 90k words. It is highly explicit, so if that's not your cup of tea, no worries.

If you are willing to take it on, I'll be happy to send you the mss in whatever format you'd prefer (.pdf, .doc, etc.).

You can contact me directly at variansfiction@yahoo.com.

Thank you!

Varian

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi Varian,

message 37: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi Tiffany,

Sounds interesting, although anything religious will turn me off! I have a backlog at the moment, but if you have a couple of months to wait, then I can give it a crack.

Sarah.

message 38: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi, Do you read anything religious.my novel is the retelling of the Esther story in the bible

message 39: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi O'Nika,

I can't say that I do. If it's a re-telling that requires a person to have faith or consider that others do, I'm not particularly good at taking my atheistic views out of it - sorry!

Sarah.

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

no its not a retelling that you need to have faith. Its more the romance between the king and Esther.

message 41: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (missredsage) | 2 comments Hi O'Nika - I think it best that I bow out of that one, but thanks so much for your offer, I'm not sure that I'm your target audience for the finished product - good luck!
Sarah.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

okthanks anyways

message 43: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 38 comments Hi Sarah,
Your plate is probably full, but I thought I'd pitch my book and see if your interested in putting it in your queue. Do you like to read upmarket women's fiction? My novel is titled "Chalkdust" and is complete at 119,000 words.

If you're interested, I can send it to you in whatever format you'd prefer. Let me know and thanks for the consideration.

Best,
Trisha
