Waiting for Normal and Point of View

I have just started reading "Waiting for Normal" and now I have to start a discussion on point of view. I do not know a lot about Addie and her family yet so please don't spoil anything.
How does Addie's Point of View affect the book? The point of view in the story is first person and it is through Addie's eyes. I my opinion, this impacts the story because we can only know what Addie is thinking. Because of this,we cannot know what any of the other characters are thinking and we cannot know his or her point of view. As a result, if Addie tells a story, we cannot know about anyone else's side of the story unless that "someone else" shares it. Overall, Addie's POV affects the story because we cannot know what other characters are thinking. We read the book through the eyes of Addie.

If you have any other ideas you want to share about the POV in "Waiting For Normal", please respond!
