I'm so glad that everyone's excited! It's been sitting on my bookshelf for ten months now, so I should really read it.

Abi (brittersby) | 2 comments I've had this book on my wishlist for a while, and when I finally read it, I found I couldn't put the book down! So I'm excited to discuss this later on in the month!

Okay... let's get this conversation started!

Pre-reading Questions:
1. If you already wanted to read Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard: Why did you want to read this book?
2. Are you excited to read Red Queen? Why or why not?
3. Have you read anything similar to Red Queen in the past?

Yay! I've had it on my shelf since January. I need to sit down one day and just read it.

Emily Shaw (emilyshaw16) | 313 comments I'm on page 114 and enjoying this so far! Also, it's my first time actually participating in one of our books of the month and it's going great :)

1. I originally wanted to read this book because it was so hyped when it came out.
2. I am excited to read this, since I've heard so many people love it and so many hate it. I want to see where I fall.
3. I've heard it's very similar to the Hunger Games and Shadow and Bone. I've read the Hunger Games.
4. I know I already started it, but my original prediction would be that our main character wouldn't be completely Red or Silver.
5. I hope so! I'm really bad at continuing series though, so it really depends how much I like this.

Brianna Andreda | 27 comments 1. I read this book back in August. I wanted to read the book at that time because I had been seeing so many good reviews about it from some of my GR friends.
2. I was super excited to read it
3. The only books I read similar to Red Queen would be the Hunger Games trilogy and Snow Like Ashes.
4. At the time I thought it would be a book about some evil queen or something and the main character would end up becoming the queen after taking her out.
5. I do plan on reading the sequel

Post Reading Questions?

1. Did you like Red Queen? Why or why not?
2. Do you plan on reading the novellas and sequels?
3. Who was your favorite character in the book? (Or characters?)
4. Any predictions for the sequel? (Please hide any spoilers in case any other members are still reading.)

Lore Penny (narrativelyyours) | 2 comments 1. I really enjoyed Red Queen! After a string of not-particularly-riveting books which had the same sort of ideas behind them, I was really pleasantly surprised by how engaging it was.
2. I'll definitely be reading any and all sequels and spin-off novellas - I'm so in love with the world of this book!
3. I loved Mare (most of the time) - I was glad for the times when I was annoyed with her, because who wants a "perfect" character? I like that she has flaws and that her thinking patterns don't always necessarily lead her in the right direction.
4. I can honestly say I don't know what's going to happen in the sequel but I am SO excited to find out!

message 18: by Abi (new) - rated it 5 stars

Abi (brittersby) | 2 comments 1) I loved this book! It was constantly being recommended to me by Amazon, and for a while I was like, "meh, not right now". Then I picked it up and couldn't put it down until I was done. I think what appealed to me was the setting of the whole story, the divide between Reds and Silvers, and how much happened in such a short period of time.

2) I'm planning on reading the next book indefinitely :)

3) As much as I loved Mare, I also loved the different families of Silvers, not so much the actual people, but the powers and how they were in different houses/families and would do anything to achieve greatness.

4) I think the war will be brought closer to home for all the characters, and Mare will learn more about herself and how she came to be.

Kerry Hunter (kerryelizabeth) | 1 comments Pre-reading questions:
1. Lots of my favourite BookTubers were recommending it and the magic system really interested me.
2. 100% absolutely was :3
3. I think lots of YA books are similar in premise with a "special chosen representative" and an uprising etc. The Hunger Games springs to mind.
4. Not really.
5. Of course!

Post-reading questions:
1. I loved it! It was engaging, twisty, character development was fab, it was exciting and the magic system was totally unique.
2. Absolutely!
3. Mavern... I really did love him. #teammavern
4. An inevitable love triangle maybe between Cal and Kilorn?

Emily Shaw (emilyshaw16) | 313 comments Last day of November, but I finally finished it! :)

1) I enjoyed the book! It was entertaining, but I could definitely understand why some people complained. It seemed similar to Divergent to me.
2) Yes! Maybe not right away, but I'd love to continue this series.
3) Evangeline, as weird as that is. She was just always interesting to hear about and sounded really cool. A novella explaining her desire for power would be interesting!
4) Hopefully finding new people like Mare. And hopefully a really exciting love triangle for Mare.

Abigail Sweetser | 7 comments I know I'm late to the game by the copy I had on hold at the library FINALLY became available so I'm starting tonight! Here are my pre-reading questions
1. It was recommended to me by a friend who has never steered me wrong before - she also recommended Divergent and Mortal Instrument series!
2. I am very excited because it sounds so interesting, a bit like The Selection mixed with the Hunger Games - both books I loved!
3. I have read a lot of dystopian YA so I think so, but I won't know for sure until I finish :)
4. Not really....
5. Oh yes! I love series and I have to read them through to the end!!
