Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Count me in!

Emmett (emmett13) I thought the prologue was great; it definitely hooked me from the start. Right now I'm about 1/5 of the way in so far and holding out high hopes for the rest of the story. I'm eager to learn more about all of the main characters that have been introduced so far, which is always a good sign!

DavidO (drgnangl) Weird, I thought the prologue was a mess of too many names all at once, and it's a bit over the top. The parts about Winter and especially Marcus seemed more maturely written to me.

Brian I'll be starting this one this weekend.

Kasey Cocoa (kaseycocoa) | 20 comments My son is reading this one. I read it a few months back. I was planning to skim over it again to join in on this discussion but he snagged it off my desk. I'll post his comments and what I remember.

John Hill I'm about 13% in so far...a little slow but it's picking up speed.

I agree with DavidO on the prologue, too much exposition, just didn't seem as well written as the following chapters and it left me really confused about who was who and what was happening.

Really like the characterization so far, still too early to tell how I feel about the worldbuilding though.

Daniel (dward526) picked up the audiobook for this one, looking forward to starting it soon.

John Hill I've been switching back and forth between listening to the audiobook and actually reading the thing...the narration is really pretty good, but I just finished listening to Joe Abercrombie's "First Law" series, and the narration on those books really spoiled me lol

Sabrina Fish (sabrinaafish) | 15 comments Just bought it. I've been looking forward to it.

Sabrina Fish (sabrinaafish) | 15 comments I'm about halfway through and I agree with the comments about the prologue not being as good as what came after. My fave character, by far, is Winter. I wasn't too sure about all the military strategy but it has bogged the story down too much so far. I'm really enjoying it so far.

Luke I'm about 2/3 of the way through. It's a good 4 stars for me right now. I absolutely love how he handles battles scenes. Far too many people just focus on a little 1 vs. 1 fight and use some hand wavium to explain what happened on the rest of the field. He uses more of the overhead, grand view of the battle so we can see how all of it is progressing.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments Just getting started....

I agree, I really enjoy that aspect of this book
