Steve (plinth) | 179 comments I always smile when I catch ambiguities that can be misconstrued. In Time and Again, I spotted this one:

"[...]she turned into an office before reaching us."

and I like to imagine a story when a character could transform into an office.

And yes, I'm revolted by the phrase, "s/he threw up her/his hands". Why thank you for asking!

Joanna Chaplin | 1175 comments Ah, yes. The old spec fic "she flew across the room" problem. I was reading a fantasy story in which I hadn't gotten a good sense of the setting yet, so when a character "hovered", I didn't know if it meant figuratively or literally.

Minsta | 111 comments Steve and Joanna - LOL! :) I read a newspaper article about a visit to a pizza restaurant by elementary school-aged children: the article mentioned that the kids enjoyed watching the chef "throw up the pizza dough"... oy.
