Nice ones

message 4: by Elentarri (new)

Elentarri Ah well. I did try to choose something the rest of the group might like.

Any ideas Michelle? What should we read?

message 7: by Tayler (new)

Tayler (TheMediocreReader) | 3 comments I would like to suggest Proving Darwin by Geoffrey Chatin?

The books will be included in our poll also.

Michelle Mueller | 8 comments I'd like to add 2 books. The Greatest Show on Earth by Richard Dawkins and The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert
Are those ok?

message 12: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Mueller | 8 comments I also liked the GOD Delusion by Richard Dawkins. So interesting.

I have read the God delusion, be careful of this book. It can enrage you if you are not an atheist, not so much because of the subject but because the author filled it with his personal values, I think. So it isn't something that will make you say "Oh my" and realize the errors of humans' beliefs, instead it will offend your faith.

Regardless of all that, shall we put it on our group's to read list?

Sure. We can always read it and pull it apart. :)
Can't say I am a Dawkins fan. His condescending and repetitive writing style irritate me. We won't mention the "plot holes".

Three books added.

message 16: by Brian (new)

Brian Harvey | 8 comments I found Dawkins at his best in his most recent book on Evolution (Greatest Show on Earth). The hectoring tone of "God Delusion" is absent in this one.

message 17: by Elentarri (new)

Elentarri Is 6 books enough for the poll? Or do you want more ;)

We'll feature Greatest Show on Earth on the poll. I'd want to read that one..

I'll try to add 1 book from me.
What about the classic Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid :p?

message 19: by Elentarri (new)

Elentarri Sure, why not.

Wow, a lot of people have taken part in the poll.

message 21: by Elentarri (new)

Elentarri That's nice. It's anonymous so the rest of us can't see.

Yes. And the result is pretty surprising to me.
