Joli (joliane) | 13 comments Have u tried amazon website? They have a lot of used paperback copies available starting at .01 cents. Not sure how much they will charge u for mailing though.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments AMZN charges $3.99 for S&H.

So a book the costs one penny really costs $4.00.

message 4: by Samar (new)

Samar | 7 comments yeah , maybe that applies to u coz u r living in a place where u could get amazon service by mail, , i was wondering if some could just borrow it from open library or something , i borrowed and scanned many books but not in english , English books seams harder to get.this book is kind of stuck in my head.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments I have an account with the the open library. I'll check and see if they have this.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments The Open Library has this book to lend in dead tree format--no eBook.

I think I'll borrow it later.

BlackSheep | 15 comments I DO have this book in paperback and I DID pay stupid money to buy & ship it out of US. My OCD meant I had to get Book 1(no matter what!) since I have Book 2 and 3.

After all that, it was a huge let down. The book was a DNF and was just too OTT and too silly for words. It felt like the author had to throw everything AND the kitchen sink into the plot-line, making it almost laughable!

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments Eww, Blacksheep, I'm sorry it was a waste of money.

I do enjoy old BR & HR from pre-2k, but sometimes the plots are quite crazy!

message 10: by Jiha (new)

Jiha | 118 comments in Blacksheep's post i wish someone tell me th meaning of OCD and OTT and DNF ,and i think u're too prujidiced against the poor book blacksheep ,i started loving this kind of wild books since i read stormfire , and i wish i could read this one too.in fact th book looks awsome .

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments Stormfire was good, wasn't it?

I love pre-year 2000 crazy romances.

The WTFery/craziness is part of the charm of these old romances!

Jiha | 118 comments almost five yrs ago i saw someone asking desperately for a scan of the book on yahoo groups , it drew my attention and i tried to look for it for sometime then i gave up , it reminds me of stormfire ,charming and crazy . and yes i do think stormfire is th most remarkable book in th genre.

message 13: by Samar (new)

Samar | 7 comments ok , sorry for ur loss too Blacksheep, i still hope u would help us if possible even if with few pages of th book ,from the beginning and th middle and th ending.

message 14: by BlackSheep (last edited Nov 08, 2015 10:51PM) (new)

BlackSheep | 15 comments Jiha,
OCD = Obssessive Compulsive Disorder
OTT = Over The Top
DNF = Did Not Finish

I too prefer pre-2k HR vs current HR. I still can't bring myself to read Stormfire ... sounded quite ???!!!! ..I have no words.

However, I don't think that Passion's Slave will meet that standard, sadly. I agreed with some of the other reviews on GR ... it was very campy; induced many eye-ball rolling moments; many times I wanted to slap both the H and the h ... one was not H-material and the other was just too spirited / stubborn to live!

Read the offspring's (Ecstasy's Conquest) and grandkid's (Wild Rapture) books... they were an improvement.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments Blacksheep, although I loved "Stormfire" myself, I can definitely seem why it would be disturbing to some (most) people of 21 C.

As much as I like it, I stop short in most cases of reccoing it to others b/c one never knows what the sensibilities of others are.

Raji | 16 comments i had this book some years ago , i gave it away then regretted it , it was crazy i did like it .i wish i thought of scanning it first.

message 17: by Amber (Daisymau) (new)

Amber (Daisymau) (daisymau) | 6 comments I had the book several years ago. Someone on another web site sent me a message asking me to scan the book for them. I told them that I didn't have the time and also my scanner wasn't working really well. The person wrote back a really rude post. There's no reason to be rude to people. In fact if she was nicer, I would've gladly sent her the book to read and enjoy.

message 18: by Samar (new)

Samar | 7 comments well i'm asking nicer so please please consider sending it

message 19: by KatieV (new)

KatieV | 112 comments honestly I just wish I knew how books are digitized typically. I've seen a few that were obviously a scan, but most are a higher quality than that. Maybe they have a fancier scanner than I do?

message 20: by Samar (new)

Samar | 7 comments i think a scan is a scan it doesn't have to be perfect KatieV

KatieV | 112 comments Okay, I bought this trainwreck (still waiting on it to arrive). I decided $5 was worth my curiosity. After having read another of this author's books (Tender Lies) my expectations are VERY low. Honestly, I think my review of the book was more entertaining than the book itself. Does that mean I'm the next Pulitzer Prize winner? Nope. Unfortunately, it just mean that book was spectacularly bad. Don't get me wrong I love a good dose of the crazy, but this was just eye-rolling.

Anyhow... someone, somewhere told me that there as a website/company where you could mail a copy of a paperback and they would turn it into an e-book for you. The service was pretty cheap if I recall (pennies per page). Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If it is indeed that cheap, I'll take one for the team and have a decent scan made.

I think it's mostly likley this one: http://www.betterworldbooks.com/home.... as I've used it before OR you could download Abbyy Fine Reader and install it and do it yourself... just for your own private use. Up to you.

Thanks, I found the website I was talking about on an Amazon discussion, but I'll also check out your link. The one I was thinking of is http://www.1dollarscan.com. You mail them the book and they scan it for you and create a pdf (then they recycle the paper since they have to cut off the spine to do a good scan). Basically, it's $1 per hundred pages. I'm willing to pay $5-$6 not to have to sit and scan it myself. I don't have the time or patience.

Andrea AKA Catsos Person (catsosperson) | 445 comments Thank you Katie. That's good to know.

You're welcome. Also forgot to mention another cool feature which I would have taken advantage of if I'd known about it. If you have an account with that site you can buy a paperback from Amazon and have it shipped straight to them rather than to yourself. That would certainly cut down on shipping if all you're interested in is the e-copy. I have one bookshelf and it's pathetically packed plus we recently found a giant box full of paperback in the outbuilding that never got unpacked when we moved 10 years ago, I don't need or want any more physical books.

That site I gave you, Betterworld books, gives you the option after you purchase your paperback (where you can't find any form of digital formats) to any digital format you would like (Epub, Mobi, Pdf etc) and the option to either keep the paperback or not. They will email you the digital format that you've selected, to you. This site is completely legal, legit and supported by the wider community.

However, last time I purchased from Betterworld books, was 3yrs ago and this feature of converting from paperbacks or hardcovers to digital formats was only available to the people of USA and not elsewhere, as I'm Australian. However, I was told by them, that they will be doing it on global scale, not long after my purchase of historical romance book, (which will remain unnamed) which wasn't out in digital format at the time... However, I did use Abbyy Fine Reader to convert this historical romance book, which was a paperback, to Epub for my own private use and I didn't tear up the pages doing it. I just setup the Abbyy Fine Reader to auto scan every 7 or 10 secs per 2 pages, just enough time to turn the page and lay it back down flat on the scanner, for it to auto scan again and keep going till the end of the book and Abbyy Fine Reader complies it etc... with minor editing (spelling checks and paragraphs etc...), I was able to convert it to Epub and enjoy it in my eReader on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone. And I still have the paperback :-/

I know Abbyy Fine Reader isn't for everyone. And it's not legit way of doing things. However, when you have hundreds of books still on your own shelf and most of them are not in digital formats to buy, and/or if they're are in digital formats, then each book costing anywhere from USA .90 cents to USA $18, more or less... then this could be an option for you, for your own private use. Up to you to decide.

I readily admit, I'm a real book hoarder. Both physical and digital. I buy free Kindle romance books daily (Time Travel, Historical, Paranormal, Fantasy etc..) and I'm a Kindle Unlimited member and occasionally I do buy Kindle books. You will be also surprised what gets released as a free book, if you do check daily. However, I rather have digital books over any physical book, any day, and my bookcase is already overflowing with paperbacks books as it is. I currently have over 10 972 Kindle books. Just don't ask me how many paperbacks and hardcovers I have... I've lost count! LOL!!

I'm also a member of http://www.booklending.com/ where people share their Kindle books they purchased with other people, who can't afford to buy books. Again, it's totally legal and a wonderful way of sharing your books or borrowing it from others. I've done both, on this site. This site is free to join. No ads and no annoying stuff.

Anyway, I'm waffling on. I do sincerely apologise if I impeded on anything or anything else I may have done. However, I do hope I helped somewhat.

BlackSheep | 15 comments Sorry but Betterworldbooks no longer offer the eDelivery option, since about 1 year ago, coz obviously, someone must have made an issue of how scanning a book is NOT legit, esp if for sale.

Such a pity, since I have been waiting and waiting for Analise by Lisa Gregory to be offered for eDelivery :(

message 31: by Gloria (new)

Gloria | 12 comments OK, I'm just too curious. If it's a trainwreck, why are you buying it??? :) I must know!

message 32: by KatieV (new)

KatieV | 112 comments Morbid curiosity. And sometimes I get a kick out of things that are just over the top crazy. I suppose I'm hoping it will be so bad that it's good - if that makes any sense.

message 33: by Gloria (new)

Gloria | 12 comments Totally get it. I love stuff that's so bad it's good! Case in point: The movie "50 Shades of Black" looks like it's going to be hilariously bad. Can't wait to see it, naturally. :) Would love to read your review of this trainwreck. Please post it. :O Thanks.

BRNTerri | 86 comments Passion's Slave isn't expensive at all if you're in the U.S. Amazon has it, http://amzn.to/1TFPP0M and Ebay, http://ebay.to/1p4lGfn for under $10 with shipping.

I bought mine in 2011 after someone was searching for it on the Amazon romance forum.

message 38: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 4 comments I think passion's slave doesn't deserve the one cent. I can't believe all these people were so interested in the book. The only intriguing thing about it is the introduction.

message 39: by KatieV (new)

KatieV | 112 comments Lol. Agreed Miriam, having it scanned was a complete waste of money. I should have read it first. It was so silly.

message 40: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 4 comments Haha, I made the mistake too, the goodreads page looked intriguing, I was very curious to read it. God those American authors know how to make a 400 pages with silliness.
